Hi howie,, yeah I do a batch of 10 to 15, and check,, then batches of 20,, and as you say,, the seeing on some has bit of haze ect,, I do it basically as you say,, been doing this a while now,, So the folks using registax aren't going to get as good an image with stacking Totally different stacking davy ... Planetary stackers use 'lucky imaging' using THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of LOW GAIN and 50 SHOTS PER SECOND VIDEO/MOVIE frames to find the best sharpest few frames of LARGE SURFACE FEATURES which you are ASKED to select. DSO stackers use only a FEW DOZEN images of HIGH GAIN and MANY SECOND TO MANY MINUTE frames to REDUCE OVERALL NOISE, MOTTLE, VIGNETTING, AMP GLOW AND HOT PIXELS from the overall image. Another way to think of the difference is ... Planetary stackers look for frames with the sharpest surface features in large objects. They will quite happily discard frames containing sharp stars. DSO stackers look for frames in with the sharpest stars. They will quite happily discard frames containing sharp surface features in large objects.

Some news : ALS v0.7-alpha2 is out ! Just needs a few little cleanups before an official v0.7 release. What's new since we last spoke : - switchable night mode - switchable 'save on stop' mode - allow manual choice of Bayer pattern for demosaicing - Various eye candy and stability stuff This was made possible by the feedback you guys gave us. This is MUCH appreciated Test away => als-app.org/assets/releases/v0.7-alpha2/Thanks again and clear skies to all
