Could be an interesting project, the specs from Sony are very interesting,, Connected to a raspberry pi 4 4gb, stick it in a project box,, powerbank All sky remote desktop set up Instead of a lens, Cs to 1.25 adapter,, project box, power it up and should be a good Linux based camera for astronomy

Now that I'm happy with the lattepanda for my portable kit,, I will save up money and upgrade the panda to a better model,, But that leaves me with two raspberry pi 4 4gb single board computers,, at £50 for the new high spec pi camera,, I think it's worth getting to test,, Vowed to myself I would not buy another dedicated astronomy camera and would stick to dslr,, maybe moving to a full frame while the price of the Sony a7 would still induce a heart attack with its second hand price. It's made me curious if it would be decent for astronomy,, keep me busy for another wee while I suppose.. Gives me an excuse to try and make parts for it with my cnc router and laser,, make an acrylic casing

Pixel size is too small for our use at 1.55um x 1.55um. Sensitivity is almost non-existant at that pixel unit size. Would be OK for people wanting to do very long exposure Astrophotography though. IF you can keep the shutter open.

Hi Ken I looked into that and compared it to my zwo 178mc and it's 1pu smaller,, and given the stuff I posted about sensors agree with you,, would be possibly be better for AP but long exposure,, and given subs are getting shorter and more are stacked then,, not future material for us to use,, pitty,, had a few ideas

Davy, it would be OK on a large aperture short focal length setup. It needs lots of light to work for us. A big aperture f/5, or even better, an f/4 F/2 would be great. Or possibly something like Paul's RASA

With it needing to be tethered to the raspberry pi via a ribbon cable it would need a good case,, still you never know,, when I get bored,, 😜strange things happen,, my initial thoughts were an all sky remote set up 🙄
