Ccdciel problem for meπ just a wee one lol I'm using hitec Astro dc focuser,, had a problem on cigarette plug,, chop π and hard wire to my maplins transformer, works fine on control buttons,, using skywatcher motor,, Any how Set up new profile in the indi library, Into k stars,, new profile, and the focuser moves 100 steps per button push in kstars. Unfortunately,, can't get it to work in ccdciel, its in my devices in ccdciel,, but won't budge, says not connected 1. Does Astroberry profile (not KSTARS) show the focuser? 2. An what does the status at the bottom of the Astroberry Web Indi Manager say ? (should show all devices and all connected/online) 3. In CCDCIEL did you create a NEW CCDCIEL devices profile to include Focuser (Tick INDI as well) - via DEVICE SETUP and did you remember to set/check the IP address and do a GET - did it show your focuser. A few screen images might help me Davy :-) Yes to all

All good,, got it working,,,, started getting power issues, the mount went down,, no power,, shit myself incase I blew the mother board, left maplins transformer powering the raspberry and the hitecastro dc focuser,, put a dc adapter to power the mount,, think I was drawing well over 5 amps,, enough to pull down the mount or the focuser,,
Green lights on camera, mount, and focuser,, focuser moving OK.
Ordered a drive coupling to fit focuser to telescope,,, will look into building a new power lead and finish off bit on scope, Refit the pier extension, 3d print cable tidies,

Hi Paul,, you are correct,, the steps are the same as the tutorial, two ways to do it,, you can do it direct on the rpi or on computer using vnc to give you the raspberry pi desktop,, Same process Click raspberry pi Web browser Put in the ip address of your raspberry pi and hit enter,, this brings up the indi library with the grey box on left hand side of the desk top, You can't go any further without this box being shown,, this was the route of all my problems. So if you have the box Click on the telescope icon It opens a new window This is were you create a new profile You will see simulator Thanks for that Davy. I got vnc viewer up and running on the computer but could do it from the Pi itself. That grey box on the side has appeared as you said so I will have to download CCDCiel again as that was on the corrupted sd card. Certainly need a backup. cheers Paul

When I click on the astroberry server start button ,the the grey box comes up and I am able to input only the ccd simulator and the EQMod Mount . When I click on connect,I get a seemingly infinite number of screens which become impossible to navigate. However when I open CCDCiel and connect ,the red button goes to green .....but I cant get the camera to work Overall there is some sort of serious software glitch happening when connecting to the Indi server edit Lots of strange things happening with the Pi. When I reconnected the fan, the Pi would not boot up. When I removed it again, boot up occurred. I retested the original sd card .There was no bootup fan or no fan. cheers Paul

I went the route of downloading raspian with desktop and accessories then astroberry,, took longer,, but same result.

Davy, I have both. Thought the cascade may have been a glitch from downloading raspian first but it cascades from the astroberry card and from the raspian then astroberry card. The cascade doesnt instill confidence that all is well.
I cant get any cameras to come up on ccdciel or the left grey column of web browser even though I have one of the zwo cameras connected.
Anyway, I have run out of time on astroberry for the moment. Looks like a clear night so I will take the ASiair Pro for its first night run. cheers Paul

I suspect the "Cascade" effect is you VNC'ing to yourself by clicking on the NOVNC "connect" button in the middle of the Web browser - like looking into a mirror at a mirror behind you - you see smaller and more images. You only need to connect with VNC ONCE.
DO NOT CLICK THE CONNECT BUTTON IN THE BROWSER more than once and never when you run the Web Browser from the RPI desktop.
Davy glad you got it working - IMHO a piece of advice do not power anything from the PI's USB ports - the poor little thing can only supply 1.2amps - and thats in total across the 4 USB ports. Use a powered USB hub or power the devices directly. Also IMO a common ground is a must so where possible use one big power source and feed of that using DC-DC converters to change voltage levels.

"The cascade doesnt instill confidence that all is well." pure operator error I am sorry to say - been using VNC on RPI for 5 yrs(20yrs on other kit) no major problems - Realvnc server is a very very well tested piece of software. I would be very surprised if the problem is RPI related - except for power issues, like your fan, killing the poor thing!
Its all new to you lot so you are going thru the steep learning curve - I did warn Davy at the beginning.

Stash, all this just shows that I dont really understand the steps. My apologies for sounding off, particularly when you are putting so much time and effort into getting us over the line. I also needed a bit of a rest after a fairly frustrating day. It hasnt got much better tonight. All setup for the Air Pro 's first run tonight and it has clouded over. Davy,I couldnt set up the camera. There was no list that I could choose from. I put the server address in and clicked get but there was no lookup. The same thing happened with the mount.
