First clear night for a while. No smoke haze and no moonlight. Rasa 8, imx 432, no filters, sharpcap with gain on minimum. If I use any gain with this camera and scope combination, the image whites out. I dont seem to gain much by stacking more than 10. I get the impression that I dont get any more detail overall, but i get it very quickly. I was all packed up by 1030 pm so the skies were still getting darker. Ngc 1097 12s x 5 ngc 1097 12s x 15 . There seems to be little difference from the 1 minute ngc 300 7s x 10 . Next chance I get, I will try this one again with the Astronomik 642 IR pass filter. ngc 253 4s x 17. I should have saved this at 10 stacks. The image would have been pretty much the same. cheers Paul

These are great Paul! I know how hard 300 is to image.

Thanks Ken, I dont have much experience with filters and galaxies, but 300 looks like a good one to try and get more contrast. I will try the IR pass filter out on it next session. The Rasa is proving very difficult to add 2 inch filters to the mix with its 46 mm filter slot .I have a 2inch attachment for the asi294 but not for the imx 432, so may have to use the 8" meade sct instead. Filter option on the Rasa has definitely been a poor decision by Celestron. cheers Paul
