300mm F/2.8 would be great with it. It’s gonna be a long setup no matter what but those 300mm F/2.8’s aren’t too bad. I have a Tamron and a Tokina 300mm F/2.8
The Tamron has been modded with a 2” visual back with compression ring so I can use my 2” filters with it. Great lenses even if a little touchy on the center focus bit
I don’t have enough back focus on the Tamron to use even a 1.25” diagonal. All straight through viewing for me with it. The Tokina really only gets used anymore for daytime shots with my Nikon D3300. The Tamron I had out the other night with my pvs-7 biocular and using like a straight through big bino. It’s about 10x power with the pvs-7 in it.

That looks pretty cool. One of these days a 3D printer for sure. I need to make an adapter to connect my Russian Panoramic biocular to the AB night Vision housing instead of the ocular it currently has. Been saving the Panoramic viewer for awhile but not in a spot to buy up anything new right now. Health issues ate into my money pretty good.

Been doing my homework, that was some post on cloudy nights,, lost count on the amount of pages,, was going a while as well. Disappointed it kind of fizzled out at the end,,, like waiting on a sequel to come out lol
Answers some questions,, know I'm years late coming to the party,, but mixing of and new may be a useful experience..I know the cost of the new stuff would make you shit a brick,, couple of grand. Bang whalop as I hit the floor.
But it's worth a go for £100,, plenty of 3d filament to get on with some designs,, I definitely want a camera fitted,, that's a must,,

You’ve officially exceeded your CN post count now with this new account. 😂
I got a ways to go here on VAF to exceed my CN post count. I’m a regular blathering member over there. 🤓

Some great advice on cn,, plenty big on techno babel ,,, just never settled bin cn and hardly posted there,, felt more at home in sgl,, but it was a massive forum and video astronomy was just a small section,, I thought it could be expanded on and would have liked to have been a moderator on it.. But On the other hand it gave me the confidence of giving this a go,, had a lot of help in doing it, Carl from Ireland,,Karl from England, johnno from England,, rick in USA. And not forgetting my partner in crime Ken. We actually got banned from sgl for,,,mmm being a bit outspoken a good few years ago All forgotten about now lol😁. I still post now and again in sgl but this is home,, admin and moderator heaven,, so laid back here it's unbelievable. We only need to add boards as and when requested,,and that was a while back. Happy days

I'm still banned from there I can relate to this. I think I’ve come close to being banned on CN. Definitely pushed the boundaries and patience of some mods there. All forums dealing with equipment for the activity can get some really heated debates. Music Gear forums particularly bad. Makes CN look completely tame in comparison.

So looks like my NV cascade cell is not going to be delivered,, bought it over a week ago cost me just under £100,, thought it was a great deal. And we all know, the rule with good deals,, too good to be true.
Still not came up on my eBay account as posted, contacted the seller on Friday and Monday for an update and just being given the cold shoulder,, no correspondence at all.. opened up a case with eBay,, seller has eight days to respond,, I've asked for a refund as I could not trust seller to be honest or be given a new,, old stock unit,, will keep you all posted

Maybe seller is away. Hopefully gets sorted quickly. In 225 ebay purchases I’ve only ever had one issue where the seller refused to cooperate. I notified eBay and started the dispute claim. I had paid with PayPal and they froze his accounts and forced communication. He gave me a bad review and eBay immediately erased the review knowing the guy was retaliating. I ended up fixing the thing anyway with a little solder work so basically got my item free. I always pay with PayPal after that. I did see two listings for the EEV tube. One was £89 I think and the other was £200. I remember the higher priced one was for the Grade “A” New Old Stock
Anchor Surplus had these years ago for both Grade A and Grade B NOS as well as Starlight NV UK had both A and B NOS tubes - both at £89 for Grade A.
Anchor hasn’t had them in awhile but Starlight NV UK has listed stock again.

I see the guy had a recent bad review from someone that bought 4 of them and none of them worked. His rating has dropped since I first saw the listing too. One more bad rating and that guy will never get another eBay sale for about a year until the current ratings clear. I never buy from less than a 99% rating if under 5000 sales and no less than 97% if over 12,000 sales.
I figure with a high number of sales over 12,000 there has got to be a few complainers. So I read the reviews on them too and see if the complaints sound valid or overblown. I compare to the most recent good reviews too. I’ve bought nearly all of my NV equipment off eBay and had good experiences with all the NV transactions. Sorry to hear your having a bad experience with yours.

As long as there are no big spots in the center of the FOV it should work well. With NV, the term “clean tube” is somewhat debatable. They divide up the FOV into 3 zones. Zone 1 is center to about 50% out, zone 2 is 50% - 80% out, zone 3 is last 20% to edge. A “clean” tube by milspec standards is to have one or two very small spots in zone 2 and 3. You can get no spot tubes, but have to specify when ordering a new tube that you won’t accept milspec “clean” as actually clean. Generally a milspec “clean” tube is perfectly acceptable for astronomy.
