Well its back to work for me tomorrow, was off ill last week with a viral infection and yesterday and today was on my mandatory 5yr refresher course for mot testing. .glad to see no exam at end of it..head buzzing with all the info and that's after doing it for 25yrs..unfortunately it doesn't stop there you still have to be on the ball for unexpected site visits for paperwork up to date and on the fly inspections of tested vehicles...to be honest you dont get paid enough for the grieff and if you throw quality control and mot site manager duties on top of that its never ending. ..

Just had a read of the Mot check list , looks like they are clamping down on a lot of things in 2014, and as usual the EU parliament are sticking their noses in again. The way it looks soon you cant have a modified car on the road and if DEKRA get their way they could put a lot of garages out of business

I was about to ask the same question Lee (Hemmi) asked. "What is Mot"?
Thanks John for letting us know.
In Australia we have the same thing and it is called a RWC. 'Roadworthy Certificate'.
Most States here make you do it every year, but here in Victoria we only have to do one when we buy a vehicle (New or Used). Which means in this state you can drive a bucket of bolts and rust for the rest of your life, unchecked.

Ken you would of thought that they make it nation wide, so what happens if you drive out of your state and go into another which has the RWC system and your chariot is a rust bucket, do they take it off the road or just give you a fine

It looks like the EU parliament wants to take all old cars off the road by bringing new standards out. [greener cars] and if the car is modified in any way from when it left the production line that will be deemed illegal, it will put a lot of businesses out of work as a lot people like to modify their car's.
One lad further up the cul de sac has a heavily modded Scooby and one of the neighbours went round to speak to him about every time he went past his car it would set off the alarm, actually 2 cars it would do it to . so now he tip toes down the street virtually on tick over. must admit them flat 4's sound nice with a 6'' rear box, its mega loud

John, we can still be put off the road if cops notice you are unroadworthy, or if they pull you up for speeding etc and see something wrong. Then they will make you get a RWC before you can drive the car again. But we don't have a mandatory annual test. But lots of people still get done for unroadworthy
