Liked this style for a lot of years,, I have a plastic type handle that is made to resemble wood with a design called combing,, it has a silver thistle embellishment and cairngorm stone in citrine same as gems above,, and a silver embellishment on sheath,, I got it just after I met the x wife and wore it in my wedding day 30 yrs ago and it cost me £60 ,, think there still £60 lol😂,,, Looking forward to building this and doing my own leather work as well

This is the kind I'm going to try and make Those are very unique ... to be kept in the socks etc. Very neat tradition.

Been really busy over weekend.. Got basic settings dialed in on the laser cutter, x and y axis was miles away and park /start position sorted,, bed size sorted too. This allows me to move on and work out software,, what a pain in proverbial,, but got somewhere with it and just some testing and hopefully good to move on with production work. Sgian dubh work plan all sorted and documentation done to keep me on track,, waiting on antlers,, To progress on blade side of build,, Laser should be ready to test on acrylic,, this is what I hope to make the custom leather stamps with.

Nothing doing astronomy wise, just hit longest day yesterday,so heading towards dark skies again,, soon hopefully. Keeping busy,, finished my sgian dubh,, Pretty pleased with result for first attempt Wasn't happy with the silver ring, too small and dried offset. So I got a 12mm silver ring and fitted it last night Much happier now, I went for an older vintage look for my design. I dyed the antler red, then Oxford tan, black over high spots then used Spanish mahogany wax stain,, I went over this process again last night and increased the red content,, totally smashed the colour,, I only put up finished image and my pipe major was on looking to buy it,, sorry this is a keeper,,, chuffed to bits with it,, not the best I've seen but for my first I'm definitely delighted. This is what I started with,, cut from a full deer antler.

Bit more work on my sgian dubh today few learning curves I got an image and sorted it out so I could use in my laser Engraved the leather sheath with the laser,, I then cut out a stencil in vinyl and fitted to the blade,,I then salt water etched the blade to a nice depth,, next up find another design for other side of blade. Really enjoyed doing this, been a learning curve and increased my skill sets quite a bit,, ordered a few bits more to use up antler I have left,, can see me getting involved deeper in this, lol
