Yesterday morning while I was on the desktop pc the electricity went down for a split second, pc shut down and tried to boot up again, first all my O.C'ing settings were lost so had to reconfigure it again which is my fault as I didn't make a profile for them. When it did boot up windows 7 went tits up with all sort of errors popped up so I tried to do a repair and windows couldn't do that so I thought 'sod it' I'll do a fresh install. What a bugger that was, it would only install so far and stop on 'completing installation' I must of reformatted and reinstalled about 20 times which is not good for a SSD drive. So I thought i'll try and install vista and that did exactly the same and stop on completing installation . formatted and tried to install that about 5 times, just would not have it, so I thought about removing and disconnecting some of the components out of the machine [ I built a water cooled gaming pc 2 yrs back ] so out came 8mb of ram [16mb total] did another format / install, no joy, next removed one of my graphic's cards [ 2 cards in crossfire] another format and install. same again, disconnected my other 2 hard drives and so on. went back into bios and rechecked that the settings where all at default. Then I came to the conclusion the SSD must be buggered . This is now 1am and feeling bollocked been at for 8hrs and ready to throw myself out of the window. Then just by off chance I tried another install and this time I did not re-format the ssd drive and it left the old part install on it. What it did now was to make a directory in my hard drive as 'old window' where the other one failed . What I think what has happened is that the new install has installed itself further along the hard drive and it completed the install with errors now. So this time I did another fresh format and install and for some reason it completed it without any errors, Bingo! so I threw everything back into the case, did most of the updates and there is a shed load of them and now its time for bed, 4.30am.
Got up this morning 9.am had to go to Lidl, they have battery chargers on sale for £13.99p which is a dam good buy they have a good write, anyway that's another story
got home and thought i'll finish off the updates, switched on played around with it for a while just to make sure everything is ok and up pops a warning 'error G drive is failing, need to back up now' and it bloody did, within 10 minutes it packed it. bastard, so had to go out and get another 1tb drive. its 6pm and still not finished re-installing all the software back on. I'm shagged
oh and now it reboots after I close it down, seems likes it goes into a soft restart all by itself, the only way I can shut down is by the on/off switch. dam computers

Wow thats some persistence John! And a very nice pc by the sounds of it. Weird how that all of a sudden happened.
Question why couldnt you just use one of the other 2 hard drives to boot up instead of buying a new one? a 1tb ssd is not cheap!!
Hope you get it sorted!

Chris I have 2 x 1tb ones are just normal hard drives, the ssd is 120gb and I have just my operating system and graphics drivers on it and anything else to do with the running of the pc, all my games are on one drive and other apps are on my other normal drive.
think I'm narrowing it down why its rebooting, must be one of those Microsoft/windows hotfix updates, but its near impossible to find which one it is, there must be over 200 updates in the last 18hrs and I still think theres more to come. Just installed the graphics drivers and letting it do a auto overclocking on the cards

I spent a bit of time overclocking my card a few years back. Doing that caused me big issues with my pc crashing often tho! Think i was 'over cooking' it lol. Hope you get it sorted.

Spent about 6 hours yesterday fixing my damn PC. Would not have been a happy chappy if the skies were clear! All of a sudden my drivers screwed up! It would boot up and show the windows logo then boom no signal to the monitor... No idea what happened! Removed the graphics card and gave it a clean as it was soooo dirty and basically growing stuff lol. Cleaning didnt help tho. So i booted in safe mode, removed my graphics driver and rebooted. It booted up fine... i just had to reinstall the latest graphics card driver. Seemed to do the trick. But then when i went to connect to the internet my wireless dongle driver had screwed up too!!! This one was not an easy fix...spent ages trying everything to get it to work with no joy. It just refused to recognise the dongle... got annoyed so left it for a while...came back and plugged the dongle back in....worked...wtf lol. No idea what happened and why it suddenly started working again! Anyway it got sorted in the end. All i can say is thank **** for testing sessions lol
