Last night with the ASI224MC on an 8" F5 newt. All 12sec subs, dark subtracted. All straight from sharpcap except Centaurus A (just saved the fits file so had to re-stretch in fits work). Centaurs A - stack of 56 (11min). Eight Burst Neb - stack of 8 (1.5min). M61 stack of 100 (20min). NGC4945 stack of 54 (10.5min) Centaurus A & NGC4945 a bit daggy as by this stage things were dewing up a bit. I kept getting circular internal bands/reflections when I was pointing west (as I was after stuff around Thor's helmet) so had to focus on southern stuff. I think it was from lights in our living room which opens up to the verandah where I observe. Never had this problem with the refractor. Maybe I need to add a dew shield - but I thought it wouldn't do this with the long newt tube. Any ideas how to combat this, other than telling everyone inside to go to bed and turn the lights off. Chris

Excellent results with Sharpcap. Im still learning how it works...in fact im fighting with it!.I use Infinity software and is much more easy and friendly to use.
What Gain did you use?
Where is located the Histogram peak?
Some special settings in Gamma, Bright and others?
I really will appreciate any new ideas

Hey Chris
Good to see you're getting some starlight at last.
Weather is still bad up here and about to get worse as the cyclone gets closer.
M61 - nice!

Robert
You far from cyclone Debbie ? I think its sucking all the clouds in. I tried again tonight but the clouds reappeared about 10pm.
M61 - that was 20mins worth. I was only going to do 2-5min but it kept getting better

Elpajare
To initially set up the camera I get the colour balance correct with a bit of white paper in the sun and make the RGB histograms overlap. I always have the display gamma gain contrast = 1 (then what you save is what you get). I use raw16. And save files as fits. I save this as a preset with the gain/exposure below.
On the 224 I use only a few gain/exposure combos. The one I used that night was gain 300 exposure 12 (sometime I might use a bit more gain and less exposure - depends on the target etc). I think this put the peak at about 20-30% of max. I just make sure there is a gap between the histogram and zero to make sure I'm not missing something. But not too much so its not saturating. Then I cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Love what you are doing with the infinity. Cheers Chris
I do all the brightness contrast etc adjustments with the histogram when stacking.

Great results, Chris! I like the Eight Burst detail at only 1.5 minutes.

Those little guys come up really quick as they are so bright. Maybe could barlow them to get a bigger image !
