No Paul, no difference, they are totally identical. Well, almost. One has Rising Tech printed on the side. The other has ToupCam printed on the side They are both a 'Touptek IMX224' camera made by Touptek. So is the: Altair GPCAM2 Mallincam SkyRaider-AG1.2 Touptek GCMOS224 Reakway 120, Solomark 1.2, Opticstar PX-125C, Microyn MT-GCMOS01200C, Microyn GCMOS01200KPB-S, AstroStreet 1.2, TS-Optics TSGP120c, Rising Tech GPCMOS01200KPC Astromania SGCMOS etc etc etc Companies buy the camera from ToupTek and ask to have their name printed on it and choose the body they want it in, but internally they are all the same camera. The only one that is different is the ZWO ASI224 because ZWO get thier sensors directly from Sony, use their own bodies, and have fiddled with the Firmware which adds an automatic Amp-Glow reduction process. The advantage (to some people) of buying the Revolution Kit over the Rising Tech, or other brands, is that the Revolution 224 Kit comes complete with both cables (USB & Guiding), not just the USB cable, glass cover over the sensor (RT also has this but not all the other brands), an included 0.5x Focal Reducer, Nosepiece, IR cut Filter, and a good quality semi-hard case to keep it all in. They all come with Touptek's fantastic software.

Yes, eventually Davy. Have to wait for clearer skies. Last night I did some planetary and Lunar Imaging during an extremely Foggy night. It's very rare for me because imaging Solar System stuff doesn't usually interest me.I got fed up waiting for clear skies and we had a group of Uni students here so I fired up the Revolution 224 for them so they could see something through the fog, and I imaged Joop, Saturn and the Moon while I was showing them I have posted the results over here: astrovideoforum.proboards.com/thread/2155/first-results-new-224-kit

Yes Rick, the 224 is proving to be a great Planetary camera. Last week I was showing a club member the new Revolution 224 kit and I inserted it into an 8" f/6 Dob and got amazing detail on the Moon, close ups of craters, and stunning Jupiter views. The bands looked great. I didn't record any worthwhile Video, so I will next time. I'm very impressed: astrovideoforum.proboards.com/thread/2156/rt224-planetary-camera
