Hello chaps, I just read this post on the Mallincam Yahoo Group: tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/mallincam/message/51669Mark is one of the camera men from Stargazing Live and was on the plane filming the Aura scene with the lovely Liz! Mark owns a Mallincam and did an article about it 2 years ago which first got me looking into them. Anyway, I thought it might be of interest. Oh, also I've asked him if we can have more VA on next years show!! Cheers Karl

Hi Karl yes watched all three but thought the Aurora was a bit over taking the show (apart from Liz lol). I have only ever seen it once from N Ireland and that was in Nov 2003 and I had to run out with an old SLR and tripod to catch it. It was a sight to behold and right over head. I managed a full 35mm ISO 400 film of pics that night. Had to laugh when I went to Boots to collect the film they said it didn't turn out just colours. I do hope they show more video in the shows but can only happen when we ask I suppose? I will join you in asking

Wow, I am amazed that you guys haven't seen any or many Auroras! You are in the right position to get them regularly. We get them very rarely down here because we are too far north of the Auroral line, but on the odd occasion, and by watching the Aurora maps in SpaceWeather.com we do get to see them. Here's some pics of one I caught recently: Attachments:

Nice pics guys!! Im very jealous! Wanted to see it for so long! Agreed on the aurora taking over the show. It was very nice to see tho. And Liz is very hot so not complaining! I looked into going to norway/sweeden to see it a while ago but was pretty expensive and to only have a chance of seeing it i decided against it. Might look into it again tho. Karl good job on pushing him into showing more VA! Tell him to sack that mark thompson guy... He just tells lies to astronomers. Did anyone catch the 'back to earth' episode when he shows you galaxies you can see in a small scope? He quite clearly told you with a small telescope this is what you should expect to see.... Then showed hubble pics of M81, 82, 51 and 101. Also the thing with spotting satellites wasnt right either. Also wasnt his fault but that K9 dog thing made a joke out of the show! Was so stupid. Glad brian cox thought so too.
