Fed up with all the hype in our country's Media about this. They are making it out to be absolutely spectacular by talking excitedly and showing fake composite photos of a Moon behind people standing watching it and the Moon takes up about half the sky! It will barely be noticeable even to experts. The average Joe wouldn't know what it looks like on any other night, so they have nothing to compare it to and it's not like tomorrow night it's suddenly going to jump up to a bigger size and brighter. It's a gradual thing. Tonights Moon is the same size give or take 0.1%. Last nights moon was about the same. It will look the same the night after Full Moon etc. It gradually changes over weeks. But hey, if it gets the general public out there looking at the night sky, all is good

I suppose anything to get people interested. There was about 6 people down the park with cameras on tripods - everyone has a dslr these days.
BTW - I was walking the dog. No one had taken him out when i got home.

Got some great views, including thru light clouds!
Biggest shock of the night was while waiting for moonrise, I had Venus up on my screen and I was trying to explain why Venus isn't round to a college kid who came up... and they didn't know that the moon went thru phases!!

Had a fun SuperMoon night here in Australia This how to celebrate it! Well, the sky was too washed out for any real Astronomy, so this is how we observed the event
Yep, that's the SuperMoon in the sky above me LOL!!!! But I did get a half decent pic with my DSLR
