Cheers Howie , If it wasn't for a path going to rear garden gate that Carol will be using for her mobility scooter I would have more options,

This would be the distance between the flight cage and behind it is next door's garden as you can see very little room. From the corner of this image you can see the proximity of the back gate. And behind this picture is carols green house.

davy, Theres a bunch of designs in this pdf in the link below ... but the one which I found interesting within this link/pdf is the small 'outhouse-style' one which shows the scope on a pier and the small 'outhouse' rolls in its entirety away from the pier. On the 5th page. Perhaps incorporate that 'bit' on the end of a normal shed like the sketch I attached? Link to pdf various obs ... This link maybe should go into a 'sticky' for others to find? www.marsastro.org/presentations/MARS_Home-Observatory.pdf I quite like the one in the '' other design's'' the grey one that looks like one of the queens guards sentry boxes. make that and buy a small garden shed for your warm room, just bury the wires from the G shed to the tripod / pier. job done

Yes John, that's the one I referred to as the "outhouse" style but you call Sentry box. I was going to say "dunny" which all Aussie's would have understood , but instead choose the term "outhouse" In my sketch I used that outhouse/sentry-box, as you call it, as the rolling "door/pier cover" thing on the left of the main covered shed housing the desk, pc, etc. Cheers

I was looking at Ken's small obsy and I thought 'Wendy House' then I remembered that Ken was Barbie's boyfriend.......I'd better scarper off quick! Only cold rain down here in the East Midlands, but snow/sleet possible, by morning, currently 4°C. Interestingly, that little Obs of mine was originally a kids Cubby House. I built Cubby Houses as a business for a short time and when I shut the business down this one was left over, so I made the roof roll off and BINGO! A tiny Observatory
