Yeah Chris,, I kinda go a bit outfield with my idea's,basis of my thinking from start of me getting into the hobby was to rethink what others do and break the moulds and don't be a sheep... so many folk read posts in video forums and take all that is said as gospel, but it should be taken and adapted to the users needs and budget... weather, location, physical capacity of the user.building this forum was the only way to break the mould,as we all know the big forums have some influences from vendors or worse just haven't a clue about video astronomy, how can you have a mod on a forum that hasn't the foggiest about video astronomy and worse influenced by mega posters..
Mmm kinda lost it a bit there...but I'm sure the folk that use the forum know where I'm coming from and if you don't.. your missing the point of this form,, we aren't sheep ,we do thing's our way,we try new ideas and thoughts and all are equals on here.. yip very passionate about this.

Most have a DSLR camera and they have been used by astrophotographers for years, now we know they have limitations but so do all cameras and like scopes no one device as yet can do all,we have seen the changes over the last year of guide cameras and astrophotography cameras getting more popular due to software manipulation now backyard Eos is the manipulation software for canon and Nikon, and takes big steps into video astronomy if you think out the box,,,use the planetary mode and up the amount of frames this then makes it a live view video camera,And you can adjust the ISO this just takes it to another level,,,, now times this by the fact you can use two cameras in byeos,,, hence my two DSLRs..I'm using refractor scopes as a start point the Skywatcher star travel 102mm ,, reason being it was bought before my ed80 ,,,now rather than losing money on getting rid of it I knew I could Incorporate it into a set up later,,why lose half the value of it,,this is where having a long time strategy and goal comes into it all,,,,sure if you have big bags of Money disregard this post and spend like it's going out of fashion,,, me I have financial restrictions or in Scotland we use the word skint ,,
There's not a big difference field of view between the st102 and ed80/0.85 flatner, reducer,, just the quantity of image...
Getting the heq5 has been the game changer,, I can mount both scopes and have multiple set it's at one time,,I tried mounting a scope on scope set up but I prefer the shotgun configuration better more room to fit add one, fitting the orion guider was two fold, it can have video camera or guide camera roll, rdf for quick find, finder scope for visual reference. I put on the extension tube on the heq5 to add a bit of light for clearing the tripod legs,,to be fair it could have been higher but it's a good work right with tripod legs not extended less if a foot print area as well.. mount can be controlled via hand set or eqmod and CDC... next step is observatory, all kit can be utilised for a permanent set up at the only cost of observatory build..this is a must as the assembly time is long and we just don't wave the weather for prolonged captures at my Home
