davy ... Err, nope I don't have the 150DS but I once had a 750mm f/5 newt and I do have an 8" f/5 newt and ED80 like you do ... so I hope you read this the way it's intended ... IE think about your purchase carefully ...
My questions are .... why would the 150ds be needed in your quiver of OTA's and camera's? Isn't your 8" newt f/5?
If your 8" newt is slower than f/5 then I'd be thinking about selling it and replacing it with an f/5 8" 1000mm newt. Why? Because my experience with all sorts of f ratio's and focal lengths with aps-c cameras (same as you have) and small sensor cameras (same as you have) has lead me to discover the combo of those cam's with 1000mm and a second scope about half that focal length (IE ED80+corrector reducer) is a GREAT combo allowing most stuff which we like to observe to be imaged/EAA'd.
I had a 750mm f/5 starblast OTA which I added a 2"GSO focuser to and used on my HEQ5 PRO and it simply ended up unused! It is IMO too close to an ED80 and 1000mm newt's focal lengths.
Interested to see what you end up doing.
cheers

Hi,the 8" newt I had was a knock off version of a skywatcher an optron or something,,,the main mirror was starting to tarnish,,was still usable,,,but uncle john fancied doing a project,,, replacing the secondary mirror with a camera on new truss type scope and ,,,well em I donated the scope to the project,,, should be ready in about 3,5,6 years,,that right uncle john lol. Hence the look at the new scope, the new scope is about £220 delivered, just at the thinking about stage,,,cabin fever,,,so far ive looked at cnc laser from china, cnc four axis router and watched every utube video on making leather belts from scratch and sourced all the kit from ebay,,to add to a 14" vinyl cutter and baseball cap heat press,,ive no used yet lol,,,I would have bought the rowan belt mod for the heq5 but my hand hasn't healed enough to use yet,,,,yip im a nightmare when im bored lol.,,,its four am and im just back from McDonald's,with two cheeseburgers for carol..lol

4am Macca's ... cnc machine ... 4 axis router ... leather belts ... vinyl cutting ... DIY baseball caps I think you definitely got cabin fever! Why'd you let your 8" project go to Uncle John!? ... you could'a been doing that! Or .... cnc'ing a metal buckle to put onto your DIY leather straps which tighten the DIY baseball caps at the back for diff head sizes, with the caps visors being made from cut vinyl. LOL. Still haven't figured out what you could use that 4 axis router for in the baseball cap production line ... but I am sure someone will come up with an idea for you!

Collecting Earthmoving Equipment sounds like fun. You know: Graders, Backhoes, Front-end loaders etc or maybe something like Astronomy, or Product Printing. . . . . nah, they'd be boring

Davy, if I were in Scotland, I'd be whipping out a metal detector.
I don't know what all the rules are there, but I'd hope to possibly find some things that could help finance my other hobby.

Yes Davy, it's tricky. I used to do a lot of leather carving of handbags, gun holsters, stubby holders, belts, etc, but I found that it wasn't worth the effort as a business. I would put in 12 hours of hand carving on a $50 item. That's not making a profit, that's making a loss. So I gave up. But as a hobby it is great. Just not as a business.

I can imagine ken.. was the same when I digitised images for carols computer embroidery could spend five hours on a design, get her to try it,if it wasn't right I had to snag it till it was right full weekend wasted just to make an order for Carol then she takes a five pounds for it,, didn't do that many times.. leather belts is a total personal hobby,,I like fancy belts, unique, but harder to find below the mental price ,,so I thought,,but having a go myself,,opens the eyes,,deffo a skill set.. I got a4 inkjet tracing paper, printed a Celtic design and traced to off cut of 50mm belt, and tried swivel cut knives,,must be an easier way to cut leather lol... was running off traced line quite a bit,,,the stamping/ shading got me a red card from Carol,,too noisy...mmm back to drawing board lol..

Too noisy? LOL! How can you leather carve without noise? Swivel knives and tooling is the best way, I've tried others and they don't work.
