I'm with you.... but I need to have a color camera as a replacement before I go hacking the heck out of the Jr. Pro.
I was sold a bag of goods on the SkyRaider cameras - my plan was to get both the mono and color to replace the Jr Pro. I never got the color because I had so many problems with the mono. Now, to be fair I have not used the new stacking / star detection software - but the fact that it was an interlaced camera and that was not clearly spelled out for people was really unfortunate. The only early "test" users had rock solid mounts and probably had backroom phone calls for their "testing" which was really scripted advertising.
I have spent most of my time since working on solar/lunar/planetary. I've not gotten my Jr Pro out for a year, I bet. Any messing about with DSOs were trying to get my alignment good enough for the SkyRaider mono to work or using the surprisingly versatile Touptek SkyRaider AutoGuider camera.
I'm not bashing here - these are my real documented experiences. And they've been more frustrating than they should have been.
I am going to give the SkyRaider Mono another shot. I've invested in a HyperStar for my Evo 9.25 and I'm going to give Hydrogen Alpha video astronomy a go again with this camera. Yes the Evo is Alt-Az, but I'll be a F/2.4 and the SkyRaider software now supposedly does stacking/star registration. We'll see what comes out the other end.
I still have dreams of doing my Live Spectroscopy project.

Great stuff rick,,i myself wasn't bashing the products,,I was bashing us as video astronomers for being sheep,,maybe a lot are guilty of spending the pound,,we here of the hype of new camera's on forums and I truly believe there are a few who use there reputation to enhance sales of new camera's,, I'm glad msn is up and running again so folk can judge live or near live broadcasts,,talk to the broadcaster and get there view,,.

Yeah, I need to get on there. I've been hanging with a new club and been doing some events on the clear nights instead of broadcasting.
I love to broadcast.
Need to get back to it. Feel like I have a semi-solid system right now and with Sag getting high, there are some dark nebulaes that could be fun if I can get it all working correctly.

One of my biggest problems right now is that I have a hard time with focusing because the monitor is 2-4 meters from the scope and I have to walk back and forth (even focusing with a Bahtinov mask) to fine focus. I'd love to have a solve for this at the scope - even if it is to move the USB output from a tablet back to my PC. Use binoculars to look back at the monitor from the scope

The HD-like quality is a refreshing change to the old one. And the ability to have 2 way conversations with the viewers is great until too many people all talk at once I'm still waiting to broadcast on it but my weather has been rain or cloud or both for many months. We are currently in the middle of a flood! But until then I will keep being a viewer in there. I've gotta get my fix somehow
