Dave, the Atik Titan camera is a beginners camera with low resolution. It is also more of an imaging camera, not a near-live camera. At $1000 Aussie dollars it is waaayyyyyy over-priced for what it is. The ZWO ASI224 would be a better camera and is half the price.
If you were asking which one to get between two different cameras the answer might have been easier than trying to decide between a camera and a telescope.
The Saxon ED80 is great (I have the same one), but which would you prefer? Another camera or another scope?

Sounds like a good choice Dave. Cameras will get cheaper in the near future as more cameras come on the market for Video Astronomy, but ED80's will never come down. They seem to go up every year.Get one while you can

Cheers Ken you have convinced me the ED80 is it can pick one up for around $1,000 $855 for the Skywatcher version from Steve at AstroShop: www.myastroshop.com.au/products/details.asp?id=MAS-045C1The Skywatcher, Orion, Saxon, and other names are all the identical scope made by Synta. All they do is paint them different colours and put different names on them. All the same scopes. But if you want the Dual speed 10:1 focuser and a Diagonal they charge more.

Yes dave, that is a far better buy! Same scope with all the good gear on it including rings, dovetail, diagonal for visual, dual speed 10:1 focuser etc. Go for it mate The exact same scope and extras with Skywatcher painted on it is $1215 www.myastroshop.com.au/products/details.asp?id=MAS-045C2Get the Saxon Look familiar? Saxon ED80 on top, and Saxon 120 on bottom

That was when I did Astrophotography Dave. I used the Saxon ED80 as the main Imaging camera with the Canon 350d in it, and the Saxon 120mm Achro was the Guider scope with a Philips ToUcam in it as the guide camera. So you know just how good they are, these were all done with my ED80: www.flickr.com/photos/ken_james/albums/72157645622930223

It's hard to beat an ED80, and while this one has a little longer focal length at f/7.5 versus others at f/6, they are easy to focal reduce and get nice wide views. They are light so you can use them as grab and go. I've had a lot of good experiences with mine.
