Aussie Winter has made a big entry this year with record Temperatures predicted tomorrow. They predict tomorrow will be our coldest day for many years and we also expect our first low level Snowfalls. It has been snowing up on the Snowfields 3 hours away from me for about 2 weeks, but tomorrow they forecast Snow down at our low levels (I am at 400 metres). We had more damaging winds and hail today and it is very cold tonight, but it's probably nothing compared to what you all get up there in UK and USA. As Rick says, 'T-shirt weather' Down in Tasmania where Shevill is, he will probably get heavy snow. I know he's been getting a lot of the freezing weather lately. Stay safe and warm Shevill. Currently minus 3 Celsius here with strong icy winds (26F)

Good luck with that Ken. Its a balmy 11C here outside checking my mount - spent the week mucking around with it fixing the backlash.

The coldest weather I can remember being in was about -10F (-23C). That was the true temperature - not including wind chill. You just don't stay outside more than a couple minutes at most and you really have to be covered up. In Arkansas, which is south but still in the middle of the country, we may have a few days of single-digit Fahrenheit temps but usually we are in the 20s and 30s at the coldest. We do not get much snow either - but a few years back we had a freak storm that dumped 24" (60 cm) in one day. Here I am measuring it. It closed down our whole area for 3 days. Over the years we have had some nasty ice storms - two that did severe damage to our trees. I don't have pictures handy, but can post some if you are curious. This video from someone in our town is very representative of what happened to our place: Right now we're into summer with temps in the high 90s (35c) and high humidity - which makes it just miserable. Our heat index earlier this week was 110F (43c). I'm glad our new pool is up and going. We still have to keep an eye out for Tornados, too. I hope you don't get hit too hard and echo your hopes that Shevill is riding the weather out.

We don't get weather anything like that here Rick They do about 3 hours from here at the Ski Resorts. We only get about 2 inches probably twice a year You can have those Tornadoes to yourself! But I'm happy to have your hot weather

Early 90's it was that cold, straight antifreeze was slush in the cooling system of the cars,,that was ment to be ok to -25.we had every space in the garage full trying to unfreeze there engines,,ended up working outside in the cold ,draining cooling systems and using concentrate antifreeze...crazy stuff..hits cold spells and I have my rucksack in car ,,thermals, sleeping bag, survival blanket ,water and camp stove.. walked it from my work to carols ,done about 7miles from were my work mate dropped me off..because road was blocked...took me four hours and that was me pushing on the pace.was drenched in sweat when I got in.

Was the worst weather i had ever saw rick ,lasted about a week,,lot of lucky punters that week,we had a few popped core plugs and burst radiators,,,filling cooling systems with pure antifreeze was a risk,,antifreeze finds the weak points in cooling systems,,kept us busy for weeks. Lol

Well, we got our snow today. It only snowed for a couple of hours and didn't build up much on the ground. 10 minutes after stopping, most of it had disappeared. There's only patches spread about now. The snowfields copped heaps though and still snowing up there. Good for the Skiers to enjoy. Here's Skippy enjoying the cold today

Doesn't get cold enough here for Ice Rick. None of our lakes, streams, or ponds freeze over. Yeah we get snow, but it's never cold enough for ice I don't think any lake or pond has EVER frozen in Australia. Well, maybe back in the Ice Age LOL!!!! Here's some pics from around here and other locations in Oz today: www.theherald.com.au/story/3990399/yes-australia-its-snowing/?cs=2452
