Got a few hours tonight before the clouds returned. Cluster NGC6520 & Dark Cloud Barnard 86 Space. GT-81. About F4, ASI224MC. Stack 32x10sec, gain 300. Hope you all getting over the rain/floods down in VIC and TAS - although you had both Turnbull & Shorten down there today.

I'd been fiddling around for ages trying to get the supernova in M66. No luck. Stacked for 5, 10min. Still nothing and loads of background light. Tried stretching the images in fitswork. Still nothing. I'll probably see it layer when i look through my images.
So had a look on IIS astrophotography thread to find something else to try.
Sagittarius ! It's a great spot. Just point your scope and it all glows. Except for the black bits (none more black - more Spinal Tap Rick). My daughter came out for a break from studying for exams and said "so you spend all that money on telescope stuff to get more light so you can look at something black".
I'm going to have to look up more about that constellation. I'm still fumbling around and not planning my viewing sessions.
Then thought I'd try m66 again with uhc filter but the clouds came in. Might as well live in Scotland !
