Kit upgrade,,again,,lol... Ordered the skywatcher heq5 mount extension tube tonight from 365 astronomy. So my tripod set up should now look like this,,going to save scopes and cameras hitting tripod legs and let me get a better angle to work at.

glasgow is at the same latitude as dawson creek and moscow,i think they get chilly winters, but the gulf stream saves us, with relatively temperate climate. but tons of clouds, the scientists are worried about the labrador cold water conveyor shutting down, which will cancel out the gulf stream, this will give us clear skies, great , but we'll snuff it in a new ice age, so we should be carefull what we wish for. i read that in a book somewhere , john

No delivery today of the heq5 extension,,hopefully tomorrow, cant wait to see the difference it will make, still haven't got round to fitting the skywatcher electric focusser to the st102.. Still looking at a Newtonian, probably the sw 150,,it will work well on the eq3/2 goto if I wanted another set up,,I should really get shot of the eq3/2 goto and az3 mount.

Poor weather again, not enough hours of darkness either,, ive spent a few pounds over the last year and im happy with where I am at for now, trying to tie up loose ends,I have a power lead to make up,pulled apart my portable array set up,,golf cart battery will power the mount and a analogue camera,, if the observatory goes ahead it will get recycled into an observatory set up I have in mind.it will let me set up four analogue cameras for widefield,,comet + meteor captures..

Extension came today, think its more suited for an observatory,it breaks down into three sections, main tube and two end caps, the end caps are held in place with three allen bolt per end cap, there is a fair bit of weight on the extension so it will hold heavy equipment no problems,,this wont buckle thats for shure.. Photos later ken,,lol,,, I have to have a look at carols mobility scooter,, cutting out..dinner will be had first of course :-)

Wow,,,this extension is radical, when scope legs are extented the top of the mount must be at 7ft high ,,im dwarfed by it. Now a bit more practical legs retracted The weight of the mount head and extension tube is a fair bit,,im a bit of a big boy and it was heavy,,,deffo not for lugging around :-) Am I happy,,,yes,,still slight possibility of scope hitting = yes but at weird angles,,,so another job done

So the upgrade is moving along very nicely, new heq5 and newly fitted extension section and hitecastro eqmod usb cable for computer control via ascom platform, eqmod and cartes de ciel. Mount finished for now,,hopefully santa will be good and get me the rowan belt mod and were totally finished mount wise.
Next up debugging my twin camera prob in backyard eos,,the guys on there forum have replied very promptly with answers and I would like to thank them on here for there help,,,honestly if you use a canon or nikon camera with live view backyard eos/nikon is brilliant,,well worth investing in if you use a dslr.

Davy n all, just curious ... have you ever used a scope to shoot through a window (like your scope in those shots is pointing through the window)? Does normal window glass have wavy distortions due to its mass manufacturing which isn't good for the telescope/camera images?
Curious cos M31 is really low in the North here in Summer and living in a Unit complex in the city its a real hassle to take a gander. Pretty much have to drive an hour or so out of town which means putting all the kit in the car and so on and so forth. But I have gotten up in the wee hours of the morning to look through my binoc's through my upstairs bedroom window which has a view north and enough elevation to get a glimpse of M31 through the roofs and tree's n such. So thinking of setting up a wide field frac and look thru the window. It'd also give me an incentive to clean the windows! LOL
