Was watching YouTube broadcast yesterday and the author of AstroLive software was on with various broadcasters and users. AL only supports vid cams at the moment and he asked folk to email him (his contact details are on the AstroLive website) re interest if it supported DSLR cams. If he gets the interest then he might mod it to also support DSLR's.
Up to you.
Cheers Howie

Competition is really heating up in the live view tools for digital cameras. Won't be long till they'll support DSLRs and video capture devices too... all able to stack, de-rotate, and who knows what else. It's an exciting time.

LOL, no I have not thought about DSLR to a finder or guide scope, Davy... I'd need to have reinforced brackets and fittings, I'd think!!
I really like the new EOS Software so far, but I'm still learning and I haven't had enough clear nights yet to get good results.

Hmmm ... whats the payload on that mount? Re AstroToaster ... yup ... EOS Util + AT works a treat. But you have to also download and install DSS for it to work, both are free so no biggie. If you do go this route I have all the settings n stuff availble for EOS Util, DSS and AT, just ask. If you've played with vid cams for a number of years then when you use AT with a DSLR you'll wonder why you fussed all those years using vid cams. Its very simple to get good 5sec to 30sec shots on everything. Galaxies r the only diff beastie ... process is still very easy, just you have to go long (like 90 sec) or heaps of shots to stack, and I've found tweaking the final stacked shot in the included-in-windows PhotoGallery editor works wonderfully. Course you have a very wide field cos of the big sensor size.

Hi howie,I was into astrophotography before video, video was the least expensive route to go at the time, the astrophotography was a lot of time setting up and waiting around on taking long exposures and waiting on it processing inside the camera to get the doh moment, when you find out it hasn't worked out,,I was getting advice from steve richards on this and progressing, until I stumbled into va,I like doing all aspects of astronomy,visual,a/p and va,so many of each part of the hobby interlink and helps me think out of the box. Im more inclined now to try and do both but interlinking them via the capabilities of dslrs and software, the multi camera array has been buzzing around in my head and is clearly a viable project, over the last 5 years ive been buying up cheap equipment to use,ive never been In a rush with my astronomy as I've always looked at it as a hobby for when im older but because there is so much to learn I read all info I can, cloudy nights, sgl, yahoo groups and come up with new directions to move in,,,im quite content helping others with my behind the scenes work in this forum and the new night skies network forum and mess about with my kit.

Moved camera 2 to above scope camera, looks and works better,,big strain on mount so this image is to remind me to save up for a heavier mount, looking at the heq5 but need to save up,probably in the summer,it will be a new one dont fancy chasing about looking for a decent one, when I get it,the belt mod is first agenda,,I could always flog my existing mounts,eq3 pro,alt/az manual mount and skywatcher allview to help,,never flogged any gear before so dont think its an option :-)

Hi chris..I first used the canon eos software to see how it would work..this is a free download just need to put your camera id number in to get it..use the usb cable that can download images to computer,,this comes with your camera,,very easy to use. Backyard eos was next up,its a free download for one month trial then ifyou like it,you have to buy full version,I bought the full program about 55 dollars,,in my opinion it is well worth it..full camera control, and if you use a autofocus lens you can control this as well...I have two 600d cameras and a 450d byeos can control two cameras..I love it..

No offense to Kyle, but the Backyard EOS software is really good and worth the investment. It's really got an astronomy focus now (no pun intended).
