For anyone wanting to purchase a Revolution Imager Kit, well . . you are in for a Bonus. The Revolution is now a new model and it is a real improvement over the older model. The older model was pretty good but the new model is better with Colour, Contrast, and it also seems slightly more sensitive. Anyone ordering a Revolution Kit will get the new model as the all the older models are sold out. I did a comparison between the old and new here: astrovideoforum.proboards.com/thread/1384/comparison-images-revolution-imager-camera

Thanks for the tip Ken. Your shots with the new one were very good, especially for the price it costs! I don't need another vid cam and while I have seen you and others talk about the Revolution Imager, I have never gone to their website. But I did tonight ... I very much like the "How Do I" dropdown menu on their website. Great tips for newb's to vid cams on settings for diff objects and flaring gain vs brightness tips. I really like the neat way to take the 1/4" baseplate off and then insert the whole camera body into a 2" focuser! They don't say this on the website ... least I didnt notice it if they did ... but I know that many have in-travel issues with cameras not coming to focus in Dobs. So the ability to insert the body quite a bit down into the focuser and tighten it there with the normal EP thumbscrew might get around that for people with that issue who want to try out short exp on their Alt/Az dobs. Mind you, I think I'd like to put a couple of rubber bands around the power cable right up near the back of the camera to stop it potentially falling into the OTA should that thumbscrew come loose! cheers Howie

Yes Howie, I have taken the 1/4" mounting plate off my Revolution cameras. You can remove one screw on the back panel and place a small bit of plastic with a hole in it and put the screw back. It will stop the camera falling into the focuser I'll do a little tutorial with pics.
