Had decided on leaving pipe band I was in last week due to a few issues, will be joining another local band in the new year, looks like the full drum corp I played with apart from the bass drummer will be joining kirkintilloch pipe band.
Kirkintilloch pipe band celebrated 125 years since forming this year and is one of the oldest bands around in Scotland.

Nice one Davy, I take my hat off to anyone who plays a musical instrument. I've tried guitar and keyboard, eventually giving up because I couldn't read the music fast enough. Something I should have learned in my younger days around the time I learned to ride a bicycle.

Excellent news Davy.
Surely your old band will now see a problem with one particular member now that so many are walking out.

Thing is ,he runs the band being the pipe major,he has been doing a decent job, butlately he has made bad calls involving the drum corp, making changes without telling drummers, now if we were paid to do it.. ok.. you do it..but its a hobby and ment to be fun..lying about it and getting caught out and then a bit of attitude overstepped it for me.dictatorships dont last long.

Nothing to add just now astronomy wise..weather been really poor near constant rain.. bit of a view on the moon but still raining.. this year has been a wash out for me.. I had been tracking the same lens uncle john has russian 1000 mm mirror lens..they start off at a nice price then hit £150..just keep searching for the bargains.

Davy, so glad you made a change.
I have found that when your hobby starts becoming like a job, then its time to re-evaluate. I just went thru this a few months back with a second hobby. Sad at first, but happier long term.

Cheers rick..looking forward to new challenge, hopefully my leading drummer will give me free reign to implement change in the bass section with new band,I will probably ask my mature tenor drummer leaner if she would like to join me in the new band.don't like poaching but I did teach her for nearly two years.old band has now advertised for my replacement

well that's me officialy joined kirkintilloch pipe band, rejoined on wed night last played with the band six years ago,lot of hard work ahead for the band as it rebuilds its numbers, im in good company the side drummers from my last band have joined as well,so the drum corp can play fine together, had a practice round a table with the pipers playing there chanters and it sounded well and going by the pipemajors face he was a very happy man to now have a full drum corp, not only does the band need rebuilt but so does the structure,im well on the way to finishing there new website and waiting on info to complete it, next up will be to intregrate pipeband software and create drum scores for the bass section, no sitting around twiddling my thumbs

The weather here has been a big tease - clear as could be days, then clouds come in at 5pm as I leave work.
We've had a couple of clear nights, but they've come with temperatures < 20F and I just cant make myself do it.

We had a couple of clear nights but rubbish since, so we've returned to hot and cloudy with thunderstorms every few days But no rain. Farmers are pulling their hair out! We are back in drought.

What an impressive band history - over 100 years - even if it's function was for "frightening the rats and vermin" !
I can appreciate that even as a descendant of 'cockney' convicts.
