My new camera for guiding came in, its the Mallincam SkyRaider AGc. It was delayed because it is color and the software had to be updated. I was able to take it out this weekend and play with it, and do a couple of NSN broadcasts - but so far only on the Sun, Moon, and Saturn. I wasn't expecting a while lot since its a guide cam, but I got some decent solar and moon images. Saturn was not great due to clouds coming in and it being very low. Also, my scope was only 480mm so it had a very large field of view. Here are a couple of shots... White light Sun at .5 milliseconds and 3.33 gain. Orion 80EDT APO at f/6 on my AVX with a baader film filter and a IR/UV Cut filter Moon at 20 milliseconds and 1.00 gain; Red -15. Orion 80EDT APO at f/6 on my AVX with a IR/UV Cut filter Moon at 20 milliseconds and 1.00 gain; Red -15. Orion 80EDT APO at f/6 on my AVX with a IR/UV Cut filter That second snapshot was taken when we were zoomed in via software at 300x and were looking at the Apollo 15 landing spot that is just off center. --Rick

Have you tried to guide with it yet? Does it have it's own guiding software or do you use something like Phd2?

Richard,
I have not yet... this will be my first attempt at using guiding.
There is supposed to be guiding capabilities in the MallincamSky software... I've seen different functions in the menu and buttons. That said, I have not seen any instructions on how to setup and perform that functionality. And as I thought more about it, I'm concerned that you cannot use the same instance of MallincamSky software to both guide with your SkyRaider AutoGuider and image/view live with your SkyRaider DeepSky camera simultaneously.
I now have all the pieces to try it myself, I just need to dedicate some time to figuring out how guiding works and how it works with MallincamSky.
I know there are people that are using the AGc for guiding with at least PH2, maybe other programs too.
