Got this in the post today. Tested it out a little. Very impressed so far! Everything worked first time no messing around... no nothing… Just install the driver and plug it in! Seems to give a nice crisp image on screen. I downloaded Firecapture software and had a play around with it. Seems like a very good bit of software btw!! Controls the cam and image settings really well from what i can tell so far. I tested out broadcasting with it using the fisheye lens. Heres a screen grab i took watching my own broadcast (logged in as guest)on my other laptop. Kinda looks a bit pixely! Think it always looks like that tho? Looked much better on my screen! This was using NSN settings as: Full HD resolution, 30 FPS, 90% pic quality, and almost full bandwidth. Tested it for about 10mins and didn't crash or anything. Just need these damn clouds to head down south or something! Ohh and another awesome point about this cam… it clears my fork mount with a barlow attached by a cats whisker

Good news Chris, be good to see the planets in that resolution. Bonus you also have an all sky can. It doesn't get much tighter than that :0

Disappointing night for me planet wise… Mars looked better with the ASI than it did in the sammy and mcx… but still really poor in my opinion… I think it might be due to the crap seeing as when ever I'm looking at planets they seem to be pretty low and I'm looking over loads of houses. No matter how long i spent trying to get perfect focus it always looks soft… I don't think collimation is off. The out of focus star looks like a donut.
I didn't broadcast as i was doing too much messing about with stuff. Wanted to concentrate on getting a good view first…but it didn't happen lol
Got a big learning curve a head with this one...
I didn't try any DSO's with the cam but based on what i seen when messing about…it was hot pixel town! Doesn't look up to the job. But it was only bought for the moon and planets so i don't mind about that.

Planets can be dissapointing Chris. The seeing has to be very good to get great shots.
The higher the planet the better as it has less atmosphere to go through and avoiding shooting near buildings as they give off heat which the cam will pick up. Both will help.
I have even noticed with my sky camera that even with a clear night if there are water cystals or vaper in the air it lights up the screen in an orange fog and sometimes renders it unusable yet to the eye it looks normal.

Yeh man so I have found! Its funny that's its harder to get detail out of planets than it is DSO's millions of light years away lol. Heres a video I took last night. Its lost some of the already poor quality when uploading. But gives an idea of just how bad it looks.

As far as I can see the only problem is the seeing, the colour, exposure etc are fine. I can easily see surface areas. Just need a steady night.

Don't give up on this one Chris, as Carl says you need good seeing and a bit of height for good views on planets. My best views were a few weeks back when Jupiter was high up. The last few attempts were absolute pants but I know now what is possible when conditions are just right.

Chris, I have this camera and I like it a lot so far. The moon images are really nice even thru a mediocre scope. I have a lot more of experimenting to do for planets, but I'm also interested in it as an all-sky cam and even as a guide cam. Real versatile little cam.

Let us know the quality of the dome when you get it Chris. I fear that these fake domes will be cheap plastic and will spoil the image. As there is no camera inside, there there would be no point using top grade acrylic. I could however....be wrong.

As I suspected Chris. I got impatient today and went to Maplins for a fake dome to test my allsky cam with. Cost £15.00 and is absolutely pants. The thin plastic dome has so many ripples in it that its almost impossible to see through. Any image taken through it would be like shooting through a plastic bag. £15 wasted and lesson learned.

Faced an issue last night with this camera. For some reason the fps droped down to around 1 fps.... Even at the lowest resolution... Tried multiple software restarts but no joy... Tried both sharpcap and firecapture... nothing worked...same result! Yes i was broadcasting so had a few programs open... firecapture, miloslick, manycam, IE browser etc. but its never been an issue before. My PC is decent spec...windows 8.1, intel i3 3.2 ghz, 16gb ram, 1tb HDD etc. Enough to run all this no problem... CPU usage was only at around 40% so i cant understand where the bottleneck is! Must be software i think! I also noticed that when i run with USB traffic greater than 80% the picture starts to break up. Ive tried it in both USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots with no difference. Any ideas??

Are you using a USB hub anywhere Chris?
I had read somewhere that a hub was hooked up to the computer and when it was removed the camera worked fine, I think the outcome was a faulty hub.

I have had this issue before. My set up was Mallincam Jr Pro, I Grabber Video Capture device, Mac OSX, Miloslick, Cam Twist, Adobe Flash Encoder SW, Safari Web Browser, NSN connected thru Encoder. The issue was resolved (after changing everything several times) by keeping the Adobe Encoder Program on top of everything else. If I covered the Encoder App with another App on the display it would slow down the frame rate at NSN to 1 fps. Later I got info from Hemmi that said "Check the App Nap box" (Mac thing) which I did. Good Luck Patrick
