I received a Lunt 152 in March and have been trying it out with several cameras. One is a MallinCam Signature using the composite video output. I am still trying to get the hang of the camera and Michael Burn's software but here is a link to an iPhone capture of the 12" monitor in my observatory. I had the camera set to monochrome instead of color as I had not figured out how to get a pleasing color image.

Today I got the chance to try the CaK module that I purchased with the Lunt 152. I used the MallinCam Universe and installed the Barlow element from the MallinCam 2" 2X focal reducer to the 2" nosepiece on the Universe. Here is my first attempt at CaK with the Universe:
I used SnagIt Version 12 to capture the area of the screen I was using to broadcast on Night Skies Network, and I also captured the audio from the mic and system.

hi Jack and welcome to the forum, and a nice video of the sun in Cak.
Now can someone explain to me whats the difference between Cak and a normal solar scope apart from the colour? I presume its in a different wavelength, I know nothing about solar scopes except what Alan has explained to me on how they work.

Yesterday, I got the chance to use the FEBON188 HD-SDI USB capture device with my MallinCam Signature HD-SDI camera. The scope being used was a Lunt 152 H-Alpha mounted on my Celestron CGE PRO mount. I was broadcasting on Night Skies Network (www.nightskiesnetwork.com) and I was having problems with the site being able to support the 1920x1080p resolution. After a few crashes I went to 1280x720p and the system was able to handle the bandwidth. Here are links to a few videos captured from the broadcast using TechSmith SnagIt:

Video 2:
Video 3:
Video 4:
Video 5:
As the morning progressed the atmosphere started to heat up and become a little unstable. But overall those watching the broadcast were thoroughly impressed with the views provided by my scope and the FEBON188 HD-SDI USB capture device. Stunning views Jack! So much beautiful detail I like seeing the granulation. It really has that look of a boiling surface.

The credit has to be given to Hemmi for finding the FEBON188 unit. It allows one to utilize the full potential of the Signature at a reasonable cost. I paid $125 USD for the FEBON188 ($110 for the device and $15 for Express postage from Taiwan. Others have spent small fortunes to build computers with HD-SDI compatable video boards.
I also have to thank Hemmi for his solution to protecting the FEBON188. It is sold as a circuit board only. Hemmi utilized a clear pill bottle to isolate the FEBON from moisture in the air while allowing one to see the LED's. If both LEDs are flashing, then the FEBON has not detected the signal from the camera. If the inner LED is illuminated, then the device is detecting a 720p signal. If the outer LED is lit, then the FEBON is sensing a 1080p signal.
I just finished modifying a pill bottle to hold my unit.
Yours truly,
Jack Huerkamp
