Have bought a good few astronomy books since ive started and1 would recommend the following the first and it may seem a bit strange but it has a ton of information that I think is still very relevant to astrovideo capture and its from a guy you may or may not of heard of called steve Richards, , steve writes articles for the sky at night magazine and is the scope doctor as well..steve has wrote the book imagers regard as a must read book and I totally agree called ..making every photon count...this book is a total beginers book on what equipment you should buy and why basic capture fundamentals...available from first light optics (flo) now this book then leads you into what I regard as the video astronomy Bible by steve massey and steve quirk called..deep-sky video astronomy this book answers a lot of the basic questions asked on video forums covering subjects such as ..using video for astronomy. .low light performance. .hot pixels...cameras..camera control..shutter speed. .accumulation. .to name but a few subjects ...you could read it a dozen times and still learn from bits you missed....davy

Hi Davy,
Thanks for this thread. I had found the Massey and Quirk title off Ken's site, but this is the first reference to Steve Richard's book. Thank you!
Over here, it's pricey, $56 USD with shipping. Gonna have to save up my "lunch money" .
Cheers...Bob

update on steve,s book...making every photon count...the book has now been updated to the third edition, had a chat with steve tonight via p/m and had a heads up to the new content,,even though I think of steve as a friend and mentor, im very happy with his dedication to astrophotography... he could have sat back and his book could sell itself with the fantastic reviews it has from members of stargazers lounge but steve has continued to update his book as equipment and techniques change from the previous edition of the book,,as I have said before I recommend this book as a great read with a lot of subjects that can be used in video astronomy that I implement myself...davy
