After suggesting an 840k ToUcam Pro II webcam to Lee (Hemmi) in his thread, I thought to myself "why not get out the old Toucam and give it a run tonight". I keep telling people that they can broadcast with one, so I better show them, not just say so. Set up with 20 metres of USB cable I pointed the Toucam at the moon. No Barlow, no Focal Reducer, just native f7.5 ED80. It looked great. I managed to grab 3 screen Grabs. Because the FOV was so small (well, for me it is) I had to get a screen Grab of the left, right, amd centre of the Moon, then I chucked them into a nice little program called 'Autostitch' which stitches the images seamlessly together. I had to pack up only 2 hours after starting because of cloud ending the broadcast. At least Allan seemed to enjoy the show Here are the 3 totally un-processed screen grabs showing how good the old Toucam is without stacking or processing. Just straight from NSN. Unfortunately focus is a bit soft because of the amount of heat shimmer and moisture in the sky. But I'm happy with them.

Considering what this cam is and what it cost, it doesn't do a bad job, Perfectly usable in my eyes.

I think the moon shots are great using these cams. I think Johnno mentioned before about a polarising filter you could try one of them that would do away with bright spots and save on a capable camera you already have, just a thought For further thought you can get an adjustable one to set to what ever you want which would be very useful.

would a normal hd camcorder work on NSN for showing the moon It would work to a degree Johnno, as the moon is bright enough. The cam may struggle with the exposure due to the dynamic range. if you have one, give it a go.

Yeah my camcorder and Sony DX1 work great on the Moon and not bad for planets either. This is a short clip taken with the DX1. I have some great close ups I'll post later. How would you broadcast with one of these though as that would be fantastic!

Easy Karl
Just have it displayed on your laptop and capture it with WebcamMax, or Manycam, and WebcamMax or Manycam gets picked up by NSN.

Yes should be easy. If you can plug it into a tv and watch it live on screen, then you should be able to plug it into your capture device and show it on the laptop screen. Then broadcast as Ken said.

I'm not sure if you can plug it in and film at the same time. I think you can only plug it in to show recorded clips. I'll check later.
