Well its been a busy few nights and days for me, but I would like to thank carl for all his efforts in helping me out on building this forum...big round of applause, ,, believe this or not this project has went from a crazy idea in my head to what you see now in under a week..carl and the mods / regulars must have thought I was bananas to try and conceive/build a new dedicated forum to astrovideo. .still cant believe it myself to be honest ...but credit to my cyber mates as carol calls them they rallied round and you see what has been achieved. ..this site was born due to the dedicated astrovideo astronomers from sgl who helped me start on this exciting new project...as for sgl im still posting and trying to encourage new folk to give video astronomy a go...davy

What I find is the killer at the moment is the proboards.com on the end of it, but as more searches are done for here it wont matter as much.

I worry about the amount of new members we will be able to attract here tho. SGL has a HUGE following due to the visual side and AV is just a tiny add-on.
Using myself as an example i would never have known about video astronomy without SGL and davy telling me about it. Cant buy video cameras in the shops here or anything so i would never want what i didnt know about.
Question... why do we need to login to view the forum? I think this may limit us. Personally i wouldn't join a forum before reading stuff on it.
There is some astronomy forum that allows you to read like 4 threads or something then you need to join to read more. I think thats a much better idea.

Suggestion... a box with the 5 most recent updated threads up top somewhere maybe? Kinda struggling to keep track of what has been updated and where.

Reading back posts..the forum required log in just to give us a bit of breathing space to get it up and running..there is some many bits to tweek it may take a wee while to perfect. Sgl is a massive forum with a huge members base, but it probably took time to establish as this forum will, , video astronomy is still a slow growing part of astronomy in the uk, sgl video forum has took a year to get to where it is..im pleased at picking new members so quick and a good amount of guest traffic. ..davy

Threads & Posts Last update then you will see also in Blue which you can click on for recent threads & recent posts Thanks John. I just tried it and it is a real pain of a thing. It opens up all the recent posts as full posts in a row. So I clicked on one and it took me to the start of the thread, not to the recent post itself. Hmmmm . . must be an easier way. For now I'll keep using the strange set-up in the top right corner that says 'Participated'. That one brings up some new posts. Guess I have been spoiled by all the other forums where you can click on 'New Posts' at the top of any page.
