π,,, got the evostar ed80 and the esprit ed80,, its Β£500 over here but your right it's the same price as the evostar,, It's the size I'm interested in,, something small and well made to use in the portable set up,, I've got to think weight and size,, got 4 flights of stairs to go up and down with kit, If I can do it in one run ideal, Hoping to keep the tripod in the boot of the car along with power tank , so I need a bag to hold wedge and azgti head,, guide cam, dslr, asiair Pro, 50ed and a tablet,, and good To go

Davy, the sw evoguide 50 is an f4.8.
The Williams Optics 61 is 5.8 and f4.6 with the reducer flattener but still quite a lot of money.
These reducer/flatteners are very expensive. I got the .85 reducer flattener for the sw ed 72 which takes it from f5.8 to f5 . The combination is just under 2kg. I am still trying to work out how to use this refractor properly. I am pretty sure I am not getting the best out of it.
It would be interesting to compare the results with the svbony 50 and 60 refractors which are cheap and f4 and very light.
As you have previously said, the esprit 80 is surprisingly heavy at 4kg and needs a mount more robust than the AZ-GTI, so lugging that system up 4 flights wouldnt be much fun cheers Paul

Hi Paul,, to transport the esprit,, I would be doing it with its skywatcher case for safety,, at Β£1100, I would not Want any accidental damage,, the case for the esprit is a lot bigger than the evostar ed80 case. The size of the z61 is a lot smaller and that rather than weight is the factor,, the case and scope won't 't take up much room in the boot or the car.

Checked my email and the scope is in stock,, so I pulled the trigger and got it,, no messing around,, scopes are flying off the shelves in the UK,, noticeably as well is price increase of equipment,, some kit going up Β£30 in the space of under two weeks,, the 0.8 focal reducer will get bought at a later stage.

That's the beauty of this scope for me,, very small and I've read it works OK with a full frame Canon 6d without a 0.8 focal reducer /flatner,,

This one was on back order for 40 days,, so I got the Williams zenithstar 61 instead,, I had thought about holding on and waiting on this scope because its a triplet and the Williams zenithstar is a doublet,, my fear was,, price increase,, prices are slowly creeping up on kit,, can see this in the secondhand market as well.. The Williams won,, only because it has a decent build quality and good reviews,, lack of reviews put the sharpstar into second place

I'm hoping to fit the asiair Pro on it, The carry handle guide scope fitting will be for the 50ed

Davy, I notice that your WO61 is different to the ones they display on their website. Didn't take them long to make changes to them. On the website the focuser knob is colour co-ordinated and has the WO logo, on yours it's plain black. Also yours has a WO logo on the mounting ring, theirs doesn't. Plus while were on the mounting ring, yours is wider than the ones on their website. Also the Locking screw is on the opposite side. The gold band around the middle is narrower on theirs, and yours has a stylish concave curve on the band theirs doesn't. Yours has a colour co-ordinated detachable dovetail rail, theirs is black and non-detachable. There are other small differences I notice but I think you get the point I wonder how many people complained that the one they bought isn't the same as advertised! Yours next to theirs:
