Hi Chris, I see this has a dc socket did you have to switch the plug on the heater? I say this as my heaters have a phono type plug. I have a spare heater I was planning to use on the scope cam lens but had nothing to plug it into so this little gadget might do the trick.
Yeh mine has a phono plug too mate and i don't do soldering haha. I needed to change the power to a 2.1mm plug to be powered by the mains. So what i done was just cut the cable after the phono connectors and add a 2.1mm plug. Now this wee guy sits in between the power cable and the 2.1mm plug i added. Edit: Just to be clear the red and black cable in the pic used to have the cigarette lighter plug thing on the end on it that went into the powertank.

Quick and probably daft question on this Chris but what is the reason for the phono plugs? Could you not just connect the 2.1mm plug direct to the heater cable?

The only reason they stayed on is cause the dew heater cost 3 times the price of the power cable for it. So figured i would destroy the cheaper one
