Took a couple of scopes down the coast over Christmas and cloudy every night. Last night back home, still cloudy, but was determined to get some images. ngc 1365 ,lx90 8 inch on HEQ5. Sharpcap and imx432 and asi294 with and without night owl and no filters. The gain numbers are totally different for the RisingCam and the ZWO cameras so I got an estimate of how far along the grid to the right the marker lay 9s x 20 zwo 294 night owl gain 362 (2/3) lots of coma and vignetting as expected. Edit .Just realized the spacing between the night owl and 294 was about 10mm short which probably exaggerates the coma and vignetting. Not that it matters much as I wont be using that combination again. 9s x 20 imx 432 night owl gain 2032 but only 1/10 along the grid. 10s x 16 zwo 294 f10 gain (4/5) didnt quite get the 3 minute stack before the clouds rolled in. 10s x 18 imx 432 f10 gain (1/6) As usual, my quality is a bit ordinary. The 432 has this background wave pattern and amp glow which is annoying, but it is certainly a very sensitive camera. I probably wont be using f10 very often. Cant see myself needing a focal length of 2000.The 294 and night owl combo is not a good look. Will try the 432 and 294 on the lx90 and the 6.3 focal reducer next chance I get. Have never been happy with my images on the lx90 but when I need to image with a focal length of 800 or more, then the 432 on the lx90 appears to be my best option. Looking forward to some clear nights cheers Paul

I have complained a number of times about poor images with my cameras on the lx90. Even my favorite camera ,the 294 was disappointing so the lx90 was stuck in the corner. The imx 432 is showing some promise with the lx90 ,so the scope has been resurrected The Astronomik 642 IR pass filter is showing some promise as well. These are the 2 images of Ngc 1365 on the imx 432 at f4 with the night owl that I have already posted. The first is no filter and the second is with the Astronomik 742 IR pass. The 432 is very sensitive so that non filtered images cannot tolerate much gain without marked overexposure . With the addition of a filter there is plenty of gain to work with. 9s x20 no filter, gain (1/10). The sky was more cloudy on this night 15s x 44 stack with IR pass filter didnt specify gain but was about (1/3). I meant to get a 5 min total stack but forgot to set the autosave. Nothing much changes after the first 10 stacks in my opinion.
I like the combination of the 432 ,night owl and the IR pass filter cheers Paul

Yep, big difference with and without the IR filter!
