Good to get a clear night. I put the 224 on the rasa8. 10sec x 18 stack of M83. Over exposed so did a small stretch on astrotoaster.
cheers Paul

Whoah, beautiful result Paul! The stretch really brought out the detail. Clear night here too. Forecast was for cloud and showers so no-one came to the observatory. I stayed at home and didn't unlock the clubroom. But it's still clear! Bizzarre!!!

This image of M83 was with the 290 mono on the Rasa last night 10s x 18, no filters. Thought I might squeeze a bit more detail out in the mono compared to the 224 colour but not so. Not sure what the dark shadow to the left is all about cheers Paul

This is M83 again ..sorry...this time with the LX90 8" alt /az with the starizona night owl F4 focal reducer and ZWO 183 colour .It is 15s x 15. It is dim but gives a bit of an indication of the difference between F2 and F4. Next clear night,I will see how the 183 goes on the Rasa .
Here is NGC 5128. Sharpcap was set to autosave at 3 minutes but it didnt save . This exposure was a lot longer than I had intended (15s x 52) but the 3 minute stack looked much the same to me.The night owl gives me hope that there is a place for my LX90 other than just visual. cheers Paul

. . . It is dim but gives a bit of an indication of the difference between F2 and F4. cheers Paul Paul, you will have to excuse my dumbness, but which one is the f/2 and which one is the f/4? Really nice Hamburger Galaxy by the way

Ken ,yeah ,sorry, I was comparing images on 2 separate posts.More my dumbness I was referring to the 8" Rasa F/2 and the 8" LX90 sct with the Starizona Night Owl F4 focal reducer. It is a totally unfair comparison using different cameras so it will be interesting to see how the 183 goes on the Rasa. I must admit ,I was surprised how dim the M 83 images were even on the Rasa I keep trying to get dim DSO's with subs around 10 to 15 seconds and the Rasa is the only scope I have that can cope with that. As you know, I have been whinging about the poor images I have been getting on the LX90 on the alt/az for quite some time. astrovideoforum.proboards.com/thread/2455/why-lx90s-produce-poor-images I found I needed the f/10 reduced to at least f/4 to get anything decent and the larger sensor cameras like the 294 were too big for anything but the 6.3 FR's. I hope the f4 gets the LX90 back into action cheers paul

Oooo, I'm loving the widefield! Makes M83 look lonely and isolated.
Nice final result Paul.

I like the FOV of the 224 on the Rasa for those small DSO's like the galaxies. Yeah Ken ,I reckon M83 looks a bit too isolated. My favorite camera, the 294 ,on the Rasa ,has just too wide a FOV for small objects. For wide objects like some of the bright nebulae it is just right ,but I got the Rasa mainly for those dim galaxies. cheers Paul

It's how it would look if we were outside our Galaxy travelling towards it. Actually, all objects would look very isolated if viewed from outside our Galaxy. Not one star in the way, just dark empty space with only a sparse smattering of Galaxies visible Your M83 would look like this viewed from outside our Galaxy:

M83 again. This time ASIair 30sec single exposure on the C6 with hyperstar ZWO 290. Small stretch on astrotoaster. Mount was the nexstar alt/az so 30 secs is a bit long and stars are cigars . I like this ASIair for the grab and go system. No laptop required ,just the ASIair and an ipad . Unfortunately no live stacking only single exposures but ZWO are working on it cheers Paul
