Back in the saddle again. Pipe band hit's the competition circuit today, Coatbridge indoor competition.
My tenor drum learners are not to my standard to compete, so yours truly has came out of retirement, again๐.
Had to learn the band's msr ,,march, Strathspey and reel in a fortnight,, good fun,, pretty confident in my beatings,, playing similar to bass drummer,, just incase he drops out of anything,,, Won't be spinning my stick's ( flourishing) my arm that I injured couple of years ago can't sustain that amount of exercise,, loose grip in my thumb and hand sizes up into a claw,
Thinking of chopping it off and getting a hook ,, lol.๐.
Competing at 2.50pm GMT..
So far only two bands in the 4a grade,, so head to head for first place or last place,,, C,mon the thistle

A lower grade played up, so ended up three of us battling it out. Still waiting on competition finishing,,then results,, all bands had mistakes,, going to the wire.. We had six piper's and six drummer's , smallest band there lol.

We came second as a band and second in drumming, second in ensemble,, fair enough result. I never got slated by drumming or ensemble judge's so I'm happy.. Bass and tenor drummer's playing in harmony and well set up and tone good.

Sounds as good as I've heard a pipe band and drummers sound mate. Good onya. Congrats on 2nd place too. I noticed in the video the spectator in the foreground, his fingers were doing the bagpipes finger movements! LOL

Yip,, was a birl I was told by a piper,, I thought it wasn't too bad,, two practices before we went on were poor,, few piper's were getting stage fright,, few of our performance issues were down to nerves. Bass drummer 1st competition in thirty years, young side drummer 1st competition wae the drum corps,, one of our piper's as well,he was really nervous,, ended up with dry mouth. I was more nervous waiting in results, when I heard other band got first place the heart sunk big time,, I play to win,, only hobby I take deadly serious, lot of them are go out and enjoy yourselves types,,I go out to win,,,
was a sickener for me two weeks of hard graft.lol๐ Bit of work to do this week, bass drum tone isn't right,so I hade to choke the sound on tenor drum to compensate,, need to get my learners up to speed, Canny take the excitement at my age๐

1st outdoor competition of the season today, gourock highland games,, and the sun was blasting down on our part of Scotland,, two days of fantastic weather,, must be dreaming,, Was away on a magical mystery tour with carol yesterday,, drove up round Perth and surrounding areas and headed for cried and back home, trip round garden centre and chill, We had five piper's today , even if they were all built like brick out houses ,, it was torture to see,, we had six drummer's and that's a small corp,, Definitely not going to get off bottom position today,, there were bass sections bigger than our band. Best I can hope for is good critique from judges on drumming. Last comp the were good,, bass section good played very subtle...now believe it or not that's a great compliment to bass and tenor drummer's,, March past about 17.30 GMT but in true pipe band fashion it will be the back of six,๐ Played a 12.40pm .. ten minutes later ,in the car heading home, knackered
