I've been watching the threads and images for Night Vision (NV) EAA on CN forum for a while. The good NV gear is expensive ... but not much more than the high end EAA camera's such as cooled top end ZWO's, cooled DSLR's, etc. I've seen some posts showing some images of some pretty faint galaxies showing up on the green scintillated screens. But it is getting better and better.
Point in hand ... bloke called "geezergazer" has used the iPhone NightCap camera app ... it is one of the few smartphone camera apps which actually stacks! It does not derotate of course, but then his latest thread (link down below) he takes 4 x 1/2sec frames of rosette and other objects including flame and horsie, which are stacked and appear on screen of the iphone in just 4 seconds! So you certainly dont even need derotation in such short time periods! When I saw he was using the smart phone to actually do the stacking, it reminded me of back in 2016 when I was really pushing the DSLR for short outreach exposures. I then used the Canon in-camera multi shot noise reduction setting. That actually does a 4 frame stack in the camera and does it almost instantly. Take 4 sec exposure and it auto shot 4x4 sec frames and stacked them instantly so after 16 or 17 seconds out pops the resulting stacked exposure with less noise and more SNR. I ran it via a wifi card to my iPad where the iPad iPhoto app automatically opened it allowing me to tap one button - the most excellent "Enhance" slider - and POP job done. But they were 16 secs upwards for bright stuff. ANd on dim stuff it was 4x15 secs for a total of at least a minutes wait which once again is pretty slow (for my taste).
Anyhow ... seeing how geezer used a similar process with NR to take the photo in an app which stacked in just 4 secs total shot time (!) ... it reminded me of the ol' days when I used to use the process described above. Except he hadn't taken it quite far enough ... IE hadn't via wifi sent the image automatically from iPhone to iPad to edit. So I made a short video on how to do that and posted in on his thread.
So have a read of geezers thread (link down below) as it is most-state-of-the-art insofar as NV. In that thread there'll be my link to the video I shot ... but I'll also post the link to my vid down below. IMO we are getting extremely close to NRTO with EAA using this kit! Very neat stuff!
First geezers most excellent post and images ...

And secondly my video showing the potential of almost instant wifi transfer and auto opening in iPhoto and the very simple one press to tell it to edit the image and one press to "pop" and bring out the detail. I do also drop saturation so it looks monochrome as I personally don't like the NV green tinge over everything. LOL
