Dear friends,
I have a new Orion 10" Dobson without tracking. What would you suggest as a beginning to photography with it? I am a new member and new to astronomy. Thank you from the frozen North of Washington County, NY (aka Paradise).

Welcome to the forum sandy,no easy way to tell you this but you are going to Struggle with the mount you have, you mentioned photograph, this is a video astronomy forum ,we capture live or near live video which is different than astrophotography. Without tracking you could capture images of the moon but because of the earth's rotation you need to move the scope manually slowly and without shaking the scope,, don't get me wrong it can be done but it's hard work and not enjoyable after your second or third time. Even though we do short exposure video at times a tracking mount is required in doing video astronomy and even more so doing astrophotography.

Thank you Davy. I had come to realize I was doomed for video with my current setup. So, I'll look to expand my holdings . Little clear sky up here would be appreciated!
