Bad news for the band last week the pipe major quit on Thursday , things never went well at band practice on the Wednesday night, Hardly any Piper's and no drum corp,, been pretty poor since armistice Day parade and he has decided that he can't take the band any further.
We have had to call a EGM to see how the band proceeds now as the pipe Sargent doesn't want to step up to PM, myself and a member have been made admins of the band Facebook page, I've asked to be made a committee member so I can do the band media seems a logical step ,,no point just staying a tutor for the bass section,, it's doing well, I'm up to three tenor pupil now
Will see what happens next,, looks like band will be advertising for a new PM,, seen this cause problems before,, new PM comes and brings in his leading drummer and some drum corp and then the drum corps already there gets ,, ousted sideways,, Can't wait 😑

I have only been in Scotland once at New Year in 1978 when I was stationed at Perth during the firemans strike. We were really well looked after and the atmoshpere at Hogmanay is so friendly. Christmas day dinner was brilliant, with the locals turning out to serve for us. We were based at the TA barracks next to the St. Johnstone football ground. Thats why I keep on going back to Scotland, not everybodys cup of tea living in the coldest part of the UK. The people are friendly and I have the greatest of respect for those who live in the North of Scotland and on the islands around it. 4 seasons in one day is a good way to describe the weather up there. All the best.

Ahh.. come on. At least your chanter is made of wood.
You should try holding onto a saxophone in winter.
And it's a quarter tone flat. (sounds a bit the bag pipes...)

Apologies for my absence folks Been going bonkers with the embroidery digitising I was getting done,, stuff looks great but not worth a damn when it stitches out,, lost count of how many times I've had it edited ,, just to try it out and it's worse than before,,,, So bad carol was going to stop trying them out,, wasting material and thread,, not to mention sanity. So I went out and bought an embroidery machine myself,,got same as carol's,,so all the same, nothing new to learn. Why.. because no way on god's green earth was I getting a shot if carol's. I bought a few embroidery digitising software programmes and for last too weeks been learning via utube tutorials.
Even managed to do the design the digitiser ..had trouble with Happy days..just need carol to embroider my kit now lol.

Due to a fair bit of bickering on the band Facebook and at the band over t shirt designs,, I got fed up and quit doing admin on there Facebook, quit the band committee,, and told them I withdrew my services in doing polo shirts ect for the band,, found out the hard way no to mess me about,, still doing my tutoring and played in two competitions.. So left a bit of spare time to fill in. So I'm learning a new skill, making my own sgian dubh,, Scottish knife worn in sock,, I've bought a couple of blade blanks and will be making the handle from deer antler,, sourcing bit's,, and nearly ready to give it a go,, Blade wise I will make a design in vinyl and stick on the blade and do salt water etching. Handle will be carved deer antler and will embellish with silver or brass , Sheath will be made from leather and ha a laser design or embossing,, Was a bucket list ,kind if thing. Been a bit preoccupied over last week, my daughter's grand mother passed away last Sunday and was laid to rest this morning,, I've been on the sidelines incase she needed me,, She asked me on Friday night if I would make a grave marker for her gran,, so got right into it,, of course the Images were poor quality and I spent five hours making them better. Wasn't 100% perfect but time was against me. Sublimation printing on, brushed gold aluminium plate , bonded to a stepping stone and lacquered to give a shiny coal effect on edges.
