The major part of the storm heading this way has just torn roofs of houses and blacked out thousands of homes in towns along its path. That tells us that its going to get even wilder here in the next few hours, and days

Hey Dave, good luck with your hospital visit mate.
Hopefully this storm won't damage your Obs and gear. The main section of todays storm is over top of you right now.

Yeah Dave, it really poured down here for quite a while this afternoon. Been mild rain either side of the downpour. But it is very windy and cold. We have gone from a heatwave in the last 14 days of Spring to freezing weather for the first 2 days of summer It's good that your Obs is mainly dry Dave. The rain has been heavy down your way too.

John, so far everything is ok. Fortunately the heavy rains are finished. It will take another 2 days for flood waters to drain down to the reservoirs. Hopefully all will be good. Thanks for asking

RT 287 I was unable to create a new post but this thread is appropriate because the only image I was able to record of the RT 287 was last night when the wind and rain cleared for about an hour. The 287 arrived last Thurs and the heavens have opened since then. I live in Central Victoria and flooding rains have occurred to the South of me around Ken in Snake Valley and to the North of Victoria. Bendigo has had crappy weather for 4 days but no floods. Anyway, I quickly set up my SW ED80 on the Nexstar alt az with the aim of getting 2 sec and 5 sec stacked captures of my ZWO 290 on sharpcap and the RT 287 on RisingSky. For some unknown reason RisingSky kept freezing and would not stack the 287 so I had to use the ASCOM Toucam Driver on sharpcap. I didnt get much of a chance to get things sorted before it clouded over. I only got a single 20 sec capture of the Tarantula with the 287,but I saw enough on RisingSky to be totally unimpressed by the camera. The 290 image is an unfair comparison because it is a 17 x 5 stack compared to a single 20 sec capture both in very ordinary sky conditions. I have added a couple of images taken by the 290 on my C6 celestron with hyperstar on a clear night back in Feb just as a comparison of the conditions last night. I am sending the camera over to Ken to see what he thinks of it. 287 20 sec 290 17x 5 290 16 x5 290 20x5 Paul

Yes, I see that it looks underwhelming Paul. 20 seconds should show a lot more detail. Could have been your sky conditions though. I'll see how it goes here in the dark on a clear night.
