Hi all, Got a inquiry for those that use Stellarium to guide their mounts. I have just configured Stellarium to giude my EQ6-R mount, when i pick a target off the comp'(Stellarium)screen enter it into the hand controller the mount will slew straight to the target, when i pick an other target and use ctrl+1 the mount will start and stop, start and stop, slewing for at least 30 seconds or more then it will decide to slew continues to the target, to me this does not seem normal. Can anybody offer any reasons for this, or is this normal? I have watched Yu Tube vid's on the configuration and there is no hint of this start and stopping. Rob @ Stawell

I can't help solve your problem Rob because I don't use Stellarium to control my mount, but I can say for sure that starting and stopping isn't normal.

Hi rob, I moved your post into it's own thread. I used stellarium in the early days linked to my meade etx80 and it was ok,, the visual content of stellarium is great but I found I had issues every time I linked sometimes it linked first time other times I felt like banging my head off a door,, I ended up writing down how I linked it.
I moved on to cartes de ceil and found it more a technical bit of software, no bells and whistles that you get with stellarium but worked better for me, I use it with my heq5 and eq3 and I just never went back to using stellarium.

Rob, next time you are here at the club site on the same night as Tim he might be able to help. He had a lot of problems getting Stellarium and his mount to behave, but I think he has all the gremlins sorted now.

I use it with a celestron mount - via a USB-serial adaptor. And connect to Stellarium via Stellarium Scope. welshdragoncomputing.ca/x/index.php/home/stellariumscope/download-stellariumscopeIn Stellarium scope I connect to the mount via ASCOM. Then stellarium scope connects to Stellarium. So maybe try ASCOM first and see if you can connect to the mount with just that - it will come up with an onscreen handcontroller. Also check in stellarium that the scope delay is only 0.5sec. I think had all sorts of problems before I used the ASCOM interface

Thanks guy's for your input, much appreciated. Ken, I will try and get down soon to show you what is happening, even if you can let me know when Tim will be there, if he lets you know as well. I will set the scope delay to 0.5 sec' and give that a try. "Waiting For Clear Skies'' Rob
