Hi folks,, just a quick test on the new portable set up, Skywatcher az gti,, WiFi connection to my smartphone Canon 600d with 300mm zoom lens and CAMFI wireless control. The images are ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY Had a short capture window massive low clouds drifting in and poor seeing. The images are iso 1600 and 3200, 60 seconds. No pre or post process and no stacking. Just a quick test

the paladies,,post processed 15 second shot,,levels and colour tweacked well its been a long long time coming but I got the best night in a long time for astronomy, there were a lot of large clouds but I had large gaps of clear skies in between, I stayed up till 2am and then I was totally clouded out..blanket variety,,, ok I wasn't doing video astronomy but im practicing with the kit I hope to take to Iceland in February. I was taking images between 800 iso and 1600 iso with exposures of 15 seconds max,, was picking up a bit of oblong stars going to 30 seconds and star trails at 60 seconds. the skywatcher az gti was run via smart phone, 85% charge,,it lasted 3hrs,and I was using google skymaps as well.. so happy with that. I used the canon 600d with the camfi unit and a 38mm lens... and linked via wifi to my laptop,,, astrophotography is ok but a lot of flafing about compared to the live view that video gives ... looking into getting a new camera,,more than likely the 178 sensor camera.

been trying to get camfi to send images to the astrotoaster monitor folder,,,but wont aaaargh....it only gives a browse feature..i can manualy send the images to astrotoaster ah well cant win them all Hi Davy, Can the Camfi not "network share" the folder on the Camfi - if it can you would be able to pick this up on Network File Explorer on windows and using it as a networked folder for Astrotoaster.

Hi stash,, I could not find anyway of doing it when I tested it,, The camera takes the shot,, then I click browse in the CAMFI application and then select image and click to download to say a folder of my creation,, must be a way round it 😀. The manufacturer is not very talkative ,, I sent them an email asking if in a update they could provide a button to press to give astronomers a red screen,, never got a reply,, so I think I could wait a while before I got a reply about image folders.

Is that correct? Or are you using camfi on an i-device? Because if you are using camfi on a laptop then it has to be saving the images into a camfi folder somewhere on the laptop in order for you to 'view them' in camfi. If so, then find that folder name and go into AstroToaster and change the name of the Monitor folder to be the name of the camfi images folder. Then whenever an image comes into camfi it will automatically be 'seen' by Toaster and loaded in Toaster, etc. IE dont try to change camfi to save images in whatever folder you told Toaster to monitor. But, instead, change Toaster to monitor whatever default folder Camfi saves the images in as they come from the camera. You don't have to wait for night to test this out either ... just drag and drop an astro image into the Camfi image folder and if you have setup Toaster to monitor that folder correctly, then Toaster will 'see' it and process it as a daytime test. hope it helps. Howie ps Edit : the link below has review of camfi and in it they mention the following about the pc version ... "MINOR CONCERNS The folder where photos are to be downloaded to has to be configured every time a download takes place unless you use the default download folder. That’s despite that a global Settings configuration already determines that folder. Fortunately, I plan to use CamFi for downloading image files to my computer only rarely if ever. For those who would like to regularly do that, customer support has advised me that they plan to fix that issue in the coming days. Edit: Version 1.9.2 for Windows has fixed that." www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread50856.htm

Look at this on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232442814414Still kind of still on the subject Going to look at a seat altea at weekend to buy and during this week myself and the other mechanic fitted a similar car stereo to above and same car I'm after came in with one today. 😀 If the sale goes through I want to fit one of these to the car. Stereo has an av RCA input,, meaning I can run a cable to the rear of the car and use a camera on it,, the feed goes to the head unit which is also a DVR,, and saves to an SD card. Next feature is it has WiFi and android so I can put CAMFI software on head unit and send DSLR images to it,, touch screen,, it can also link to your internet as well.. Plus all the other features sat nav, Bluetooth hands free, you can add a eobd elm code reader and display vehicle trouble codes,, reverse camera as well. Cheeky wee gasket,, James bond stuff lol

Hi Howie, I don't drink, gamble or smoke, I don't have a bought house or fancy car. Work in a low paid garage and don't go fancy holidays and not married and don't really go out much lol 😂. But I was married before and the expression was ,, keeping up with the Jones's,, bought house, nice car, nice holiday and hand never out the pocket.
Lost it all, and now I save and do a lot of research before buying, carol says I take too long choosing stuff.
Anyway it's all my daughter's inheritance lol, 😂.. told her she can sell all my Astronomy stuff when I snuff it..
Ok , I lied 😂 I got a bank loan and got ppi money back and did do a bit of saving
