I'm using this with the RT224. Once I have an acceptable image after fiddling with the exposure and gain settings if I select the live stack option the image on-screen is immediately blown out with over-exposure. Is this normal? Usually I just record a short video and then process it in Registax. I think the same thing happens in SharpCap as well, but I'd have to try it again just to be sure.

Gusto, in the stacking area are you selecting 'Additive' or 'Average'? If you select 'Additive' it will make the image go brighter and yes, even blow out. If you select 'Average' this won't happen. The brightness level stays the same as it stacks, adding detail not brightness. Use 'Average' Also make sure you select 'Deep Sky' if you are looking at DSO's, and 'Planet' for planets and Moon. Also may as well select 'Align Frames' too. It helps.

Thanks so much for the answer. I will try that on the weekend. :-) If I have live stacking enabled, could a video be recorded at the same time? Or would it be better to just save an image? I have read the help file, but there's nothing in it about the stacking features. Again, thanks for the advice. :-)

If you want to save video it sounds like you are doing Planetary/Lunar. If you are, you just save the video without stacking in RisingSky because Registax will do the stacking for you. BUT, if you are doing DSO imaging, it is handy select '3' in the stack 'Number' selection box and make sure you select 'Align Frames' then save each image separately, then if you want to stack them together stack them in Registax. You really only need about 3 images for Registax to give you a good result. DSO's stack better than planets, that's why you don't need many of them. As far as saving the image of a stacked DSO you could try using the 'Snap' button up top. I've never used it. I always take screen grabs for my images.

Just noticed on the CN website that there's a new version of the Rising Tech Software. I don't use so not sure how relevant.
