It will be -1C in Bendigo tomorrow. I swim at 6am in the outdoor pool.....but the water is about 26C. However,we dont spend much time standing at the pool edge talking about the weather . Triathlon training and astronomy are not a good combination. Paul

Ken, I have always valued your advice on Videoastronomy but you would make a lousy triathlon coach Paul

LOL, nice one Ken, just look up 'free radicals' before you go jogging, apparently you age more by breathing in & out. Not convinced, a bit like 'this food is bad for you (this week anyway) and then saying the same food is beneficial. I'm going to eat what I want (lost a stone in weight since last August by simply not eating anything after 6pm) and for the free radicals well I'm hardly ever out of breath. Not a couch potato either.
No snow here....... maybe Davy can see some up on the mountains.
It's a bit hard to picture snow in Australia.... pictures please!

Harry If you got rid of the oxygen when you breathe in and out, free radicals would decrease and it would stop you rusting. Ageing would then be independent of free radicals Paul

Harry If you got rid of the oxygen when you breathe in and out, free radicals would decrease and it would stop you rusting. Ageing would then be independent of free radicals Paul Paul - Its a bit late now to be wise about free radicals at age 61. It is a good excuse not to jogging though. Davy - Typical Scottish weather Davy, 4 seasons in one day! I went to Wick about this time 2 years ago and it had rained for about 6 weeks or so. Well the sky cleared when we got there, nice all week, was even nice the day we visited Orkney. When we set off for home it chucked it down all the way down to Inverness. By the time we got to Dalwhinnie it was glorious sunshine again. Must have a wee dram later, got some Old Poultney Duncansby Head Ltd edition single malt. A 1 litre bottle that is in 2 decanters. Bought some of those stainless steel ice cubes thingy's to chill the whisky and not dilute it, only problem I didn't buy enough of them so there is some in the freezer all the time, DOH! The Old Pultney is the last of the single malt that I brought back with me on that trip, (4 bottles).

Harry Never too late. I'm nearly 64.
Dalwhinnie produce some very good red wine and it is a bit more than an hour up the road from here..from both Ken and myself. So here's my solution. Go jogging, drink more red wine , its antioxidants will soak up those free radicals ,and everyone is happy.
It is -1C at present, and the skies are clear. It is 06:30 and I have just taken advantage of it being both the weekend and clear and have just done an hour and half observing...and I am freezing!! I need something to warm me up though probably a bit early in the morning for some single malt. Paul

It's a bit hard to picture snow in Australia.... pictures please! Here ya go Harry, my back yard and the observatory up on the hill. It's from last winter but it'll come back again this year. This week by the way they are talking about the cold front coming in: Minus 5 here last night and we had a great observing/Video night. Only 3 members turned up both Friday and Saturday nights but we had a blast, and froze
