Been looking at this for a while, we had discussed using an electric focuser and I had said I removed mine,, because I preferred the manual control,, I had removed it from the ed80 and fitted it to my star travel 102mm refractor,, the problem was the buttons with mine,, think there is corrosion on contacts. So the hitecastro dC focuser fits the Skywatcher focuser and is powered by 12v dC instead of the 9v battery in the Skywatcher control box,, that always goes flat in middle of using it at night. The hitecastro unit as you will see has a couple of buttons on it to control the focus at the scope but it also has a usb port so You can attach it to your PC and focus remotely,, I've checked out a few posts on sgl on this and it's ascom 6 compliant on 32 & 64 bit , there were problems matching it to byeos a couple of years ago but it's developer replied he added a fix, so the current version should be minted. They come in around £65 from first light optics + delivery,, I found one second hand for £40 delivered and should have it all cut and dried today

I downloaded the wrong driver for mine, which caused some head scratching. My bad, didn't read the download list properly, good bit of kit though.

Nah, I'm not a fan of computer controlled focussing. I've used it before and didn't like it. My theory is: 'the less I have to do by computer the better' With the 2 electric focusers I have now, they are simple push button and variable speed. No need to have more things connected to, and run by, computer. Plus, I don't need to fire up the computer to use mine. They work great. These are the ones I use: I have 10 metre extension cables on mine so the hand controllers can sit in the control room with me
