BTW ... the difference between average and median is an average simply sums all the numbers and divides by the number of numbers. Whereas a median is simply the value of the middle number in the range.
EG if a particular pixel has color/flux values in 9 frames of ... 5, 7, 4, 8, 5, 7, 8, 9, and the final frames value is 3 ... then the average value which the stacked frame gets for that particular pixel in the final stacked image is those numbers summed and divided by 9 to get 6.22
But with a median they are rearranged to ... 3, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 8, 8, and 9 and then the middle (5th) value is used so the particular pixel in the final stacked image is 7
