I have previously made a series of videos on my YouTube channel showing how to use Windows Photo Gallery (free), and iPhoto (free on the Mac) to make quick and easy adjustments to single unstacked exposures, but don't think I ever posted the links to AVForum. So links are below. However ... the most important one (IMO) is the vid I made showing how to create an automated workflow in Lightroom. Now LR is not cheap, but if you are into general (non astro) photography as well as EAA, then IMO Lightroom is a reasonable price for very powerful software which will last waaaaay into the future for use with any photography. But, like I said, the most interesting thing about LR is that you can automate the workflow. That is you can setup a 'stretch', and colorisation for shots, then tell LR to monitor a folder and auto import any images which go into that folder, and to auto apply your saved stretch and colorise preset. So you end up with a AstroToaster style fully automatic process of ... use camera software to snap the shot and save into a folder of your choice, and LR will automatically grab it and stretch it and display it to you.
Anyhow, if interested, the video below shows it. Excuse the 30 minutes length ... the first 5 minutes I talk about the simple workflows in Photo Gallery and iPhoto and then for the next 20 minutes show how to make sense of the MANY daunting number of sliders in Lightroom to do the same simple stretches and denoising. Then in the last 5 minutes I show how to setup the fully automated LR pick up shots from a monitored folder and auto adjust thing.
Cheers
Howie
Lightroom simple adjustments and automated workflow ... LR will handle many formats such as RAW, tif, fits and jpegs etc
iPhoto workflow .... handles raw and jpeg formats
Windows Photo Gallery workflow ... seems to handle tif and jpeg ok but other formats asks you to first make a jpeg copy.
