Had an impromptu session last night, skies cleared, only had minimal equipment, Skywatcher allview mount 600d and one battery, modded 400d and couple of laptops,, so the old motto kicked in ,, fail to prepare,, prepare to fail Fell flat on my face to be honest.. Lost my ir remote for camera Set up 600d tried to get a few ap shots of the moon and Venus, seeing was terrible just couldn't get focused sharp enough,, few crappy shots to remind me to do better, fired up win7 laptop canon utilities and astrotoaster,by time I snagged problems the moon was behind a tree.. Scrapped that idea, as it was getting darker, switched to win 10 laptop byeos and astrotoaster with canon 400d modded,,it was getting bloody cold facemask on ect, troubles just kept coming lens Dewing up something chronic,, ended up could not do video with the 300zoom lens,,back to ap,,was waiting on orion clearing the trees,, manual slew to an area around the triangulum and fired off some 30 sec shots, tried astrotoaster still to check how it turned out,,tried live Facebook and I can broadcast via my phone internet,, first 5 second broadcast,,lol..ken you make it look easy what a bloomin comedian I was stammering away lol..good to try,, need to watch more of Howies for ideas 😂.
Bought some kit to make dew heater set up,,I'd been lucky dew wise until last night .

What an unfortunate night davy ... bet the air was turning blue, and not from the cold!

Not really Howie,,if you learn something new or you find you can do something different then it's worth while. lesson's learned 1.. an observatory is a must for serious astronomy in Scotland. 2.. I used two laptops with two different set up's, win7 and canon utilities and astrotoaster, second win10 and byeos and astrotoaster. My conclusion is that I prefer the byeos / astrotoaster combination best,,and will concentrate my learning to this configuration,, no offence to you or anyone else using canon utilities but using byeos gives me slightly more options.
3.. I need a dew control system
4.. I need to work more in getting better images ,but the combination of the above will most likely sort out issues.
The equipment I used was not up to the weather conditions, although I must admit the Skywatcher allview mount tracking was the best I've had,, reason being I spent more time on the alignment,, most times I used it I struggled to get two decent stars in my fov to complete a true calibration,,I was spoilt the other night and could use the moon as a reference.
Images weren't in focus all the time but the dew may have been the reason, so dew heater is in hand as per earlier post.

Cold + dew. Sounds like a floor clearer to me. I would've just gone inside and watched Howie's videos.
