Guys,
Total rank newb to vidcamming here, please forgive my ignorance.
A friend gave me his old MallinCam Hyper Color cam. It came with a cord with two conductors. One jacks into the Video Out, the other to the Power In.
I'm guessing I'm going to need a dvd player with a compatible connection. Suggestions, please...
I'm also wondering how best to get from the power cable to a cigarette lighter plug for connection to my power station.
For now, to K.I.S.S., do I need to be concerned with either of the two other jacks on the back of the camera?
Thanks for your input, and Clear Skies!
Bob

Bob Hello Bob, It sounds like you have a dual cable for power and signal. This is all you need to get started as you should be able to control camera settings with the 4 buttons on the back of the camera. All you need to do is find a power adapter for which source you go with, mains or 12V. The other connector should be BNC which you will need a monitor for or like me you may be able to plug this into your TV just check to see what video in connections it has. Computer%20Controlling%20Your%20MallinCam%2....pdf (776 KB) MallinCam Control Xtreme Help.pdf (1013.68 KB) I have attached some info on my camera which will be very similar to yours but I'd suggest your best bet is to join the Mallincam Yahoo group. Ask the same question there and you will get tons of advice and there is a file section and no doubt one specific to your camera. Good luck and be sure to post your results here when you get going

Karl, thank you for some good suggestions and the links. Among other things, I didn't realize I could control some remote functions on my HC. Big Plus! I will check in on the Yahoo group, also.
Chris, I've read about inexpensive +/- $30 USD DVD monitors that work passably well. I'm going to have to do more research with this. The BNC female to RCA Male adapter you suggest is one that came with my cam, so I may be set there.
The power cable you suggest is preferable to finding (if one exists) an adapter for the one with the dual power/AV cable, I assume? Just trying to keep the wiring simple, if possible. Thanks for the links and pic!
I appreciate your help, guys!
Clear skies...Bob

Hi Bob, if you join up to the Mallincam yahoo Group you can ask the members in there all sorts of questions about your model mallincam. Plenty of them own that model. Plus Rock mallin, the man who made your camera, is in there daily answering questions and chatting. It is the one Yahoo Group any Mallincam owner should be in because the Manufacturer and the dealer help out daily and there are hundreds of Mallincam users that can help. And there is a File section containing Manuals, tips, etc. Go here and sign up: groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/mallincam/info
