I put this topic here as its software related. My setup at the moment consists of 2 x 23inch screens connected to the comp so that I can extend the desktop to accomodate all the software I use when broadcasting. I also have another combined TV/monitor that can be used with a comp or to plug videocams into. When I do solar imaging or broadcasting, my mount, scopes and cameras are remotely controlled from the house. The only thing I cannot do remotely is to tune the etalons on the scope. This means I have to swap cam with eyepiece and adjust the tuning, Or take a laptop out and plug the camera in, run software again and tune. This upsets the whole caboodle as i have to redo everything back in the house again.
The question is; Is there some way to wirelessly network a tablet so that it shows my desktop image. Then I could just take the tablet out into the garden and use that to view the adjustments I make. Or maybe I could get the desktop wirelessly onto the laptop instead.
Any suggestions.

Sounds like your looking for Windows Remote Desktop. It works wireless and allows you to control your pc from anywhere. A quick google should give you the options HTH

No don't want to control the pc, just mirror the desktop image onto a laptop or tablet so that I can walk outside with it and make adjustments without disconnecting anything at the scope or indoors.

Well research tells me it can't be done the way I would like, but it seems that if I can get a very long HDMI cable and another screen, I can mirror the desktop onto it. Its not the ultra portable solution I was after, but its possible. Its basicly having one display at the scope and one indoors showing the same image.

Wow Carl, thats the dogs danglies. Does just what I want and more. I can take my lappy out into the garden and view whats on the monitor indoors. This will allow my to re-tune my etalon without swapping cam for ep and disrupting anything. And as you mentioned, I can actually control the comp with the lappy and make adjustments remotely. Kudos to you buddy.

Another method if you don't necessarily need to see the exact image as the inside PC monitor is to have a separate TV/Monitor outside via a T piece.
I have done it a few times as a focussing aid or an object locator outside while my PC is inside.
I use a 7" B&W TV and an AV T piece on the camera. Just leave it plugged in all the time. There is no loss of signal to the PC.

yes, that was the only other method I could think of, but Teamviewer lets me use my laptop as a mirror image of the desktop screen so that can use it as a focus aid , and make image adjustments remotely. Lovely little bit of software.
