There's an article about video astronomy in the April issue by Charles Macchionni. I think that's the same Charles on CN website ?

I don't get any Astro magazines any more so I probably won't see it Chris. I gave up buying them years ago because nothing seemed to change in them. Same old same old. I'll look in the Newsagents and see if I can find the April issue and have a read Thanks for the Heads-up.

It is a good summary of what is available in the analogue line--- Mallincam,MK1V Astrovideo ,SCB2000 and LN300. He mentions all the most popular software and practical tips on how to find DSO,s. There is an explanation from Tony Flanders on pixel count and pixel size and why DSLR's take so long to give you an image when video cameras take 10 secs. All certainly worth a read.
Curtis calls it Video Assisted Observing, the article is under the Video Observing category and the footnote on Curtis says he enjoys Video-Enhanced Observing in the San Francisco Bay area. Video Astronomy sounds pretty good to me Paul

Thanks Paul. I will be going into Ballarat one day this week. I'll have a look around for it. The two Macchionni brothers write some good stuff on Video Astronomy. Good basic knowledge for beginners. A lot of their older tutorials need updating due to the new cameras and software on the market now. Here's one of their popular basic tutorials: www.mallincam.net/uploads/2/6/9/1/26913006/curtismacchioni2014-02-21.pdf
