'Loreal' is a small software package for removing those horrid 'Blackeyes' around stars created when using Webcams and video cameras. If you intend to keep your screen grabs as Images, then clean up those horrible Blackeyes. Loreal: www.astrosurf.com/hfosaf/down/Loreal.zipWhen downloading the download window may say something like "this download may be dangerous". It is because it is hardly ever downloaded any more and Google etc don't know much about it. It's safe. Here's what it can do with a simple mouse click! 1st pic: My first use of Loreal on the Trapezium stars back in 2006 2nd Pic: Carl's M42 from last night (animation from Raw to 'Loreal' to sharpen) Attachments:

Just a bit of helpful Info before anyone comes in here saying it won't work because you can't open images in Loreal 1. It will only work with Bitmaps. You need to convert your image to .bmp 2. The software is in French. If you don't read French: Fichier = File Ouvrir = Open Quitter = Close A propos = 'About' Loreal Sensibilite = Sensitivity Rayon = Radius Sauver = Save 3. In the Instructions, which will come with your download, it suggests using a slight amount of sensitivity and start with a small radius. I have always found it works best to have both sliders at full strength. If the blackeye still doesn't totally disappear just click again, and again if necessary. 4. Auto doesn't always work. It depends on the image. I prefer to click (or double or triple click) on each star that needs it myself because not all the stars in an image will need it. Auto does them all (when it decides to work). 5. Place the small cross (mouse curser) on the centre of the star and click. If it is an excessively huge star you can click near the edge and work your way around the edge of the star clicking as you go. Try it out. You'll soon get the hang of it.

Good find Ken. I do find black halos annoying so this could be useful indeed.
